this is where my ancestors was here name is Kalala Lupetaumata the princess of wallis that is my great-grandmother was force to leave wallis because she had married out side the royal family and the queen Seilala was not happy about it. her father Fugalei (the Fugalei island is also named after him) had ask his brother Tufelemanaia to ta ke his daughter to tonga for she can have a decent life and have children there, so he did. the cathedral was finished by my great great uncle Fr Hamale my great great grandmother Kalala brother.

Vic, It's a rare day when I am presented with something I know nothing about. Today is such a day; I never heard of Wallis or Fotuna, I suppose because they are reffered to as French Polynnesia. Well of the beaten path, hard to get to. For the most part, Visa Free. Nice place for adventuresome younger folk.. I am now faced with months and months of enriching my knowledge about these islands! The churches are magnificent and many are in an indigenous style. I would think they are expensive. Maybe $10 chickens. As always; nobody does it better than you.

Vic, how do you travel from island to island ?. With Tramp Freighters ?. 40 some years ago, one of the profs at school spent his summers on a tramp freighter in the western Pacific. He would fly to the Philippines and head east on a freighter. Would you do it Vic and take us along with your vblog ?. FYI: "Running Away to Sea" by George Featherling - he took around the world tramp freighter.

Absolutely stunning Catholic churches. Plenty of attractive buttresses along the sides. It's interesting that the new community center seems to be roofed with thatch when they also have better roofing materials such as aluminum and what appears to be terracotta. it's understandable for a home, but not a large community center. It's really a shame they can't attract more tourists and bring in some type of companies so the younger generation can have jobs without having to leave home.

@@freewal Kings in Wallis and Futuna have power in customary laws and are member by right of the Territory Council, where other 4 members are nominated by the Administrator of the Territory.
