Meghan Markle, Californian, Former actress and wife of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Wallis Simpson, American socialite and wife to Prince of Wales Edward VIII, both had an undeniable love for their husbands. Following news from the press, both duchesses would receive immense scrutiny amongst the British public and tabloids once marrying into the royal family.
Wallis Simpson was an American socialite who had been married twice when she met Edward, Duke of Windsor (then the Prince of Wales), at a party. She became Edward's mistress, leading to the "abdication crisis" in which he stepped down as king in order to be with her.
Meghan Markle was an American Actress who met Prince Harry through a mutual friend, and after a few dates with the prince, everything changed. Meghan and Harry's relationship led to an avalanche of tabloid interest, some of it tinged with racism. In the weeks before their wedding, they were the victims of harsh online attacks as well as optimism for the future. Meghan's rise to the top of British society revealed some deep-seated issues in a multicultural country.

As a woman, I really hate the blanket excuse of ''it was/is misogyny'' every time someone criticises a woman in the public eye for wrongdoing . Misogyny is a term that has been flagrantly misused in the past decade or so. Any criticism of a woman in the public eye - misogyny. Men finding women who are scantily clad attractive - misogyny, and the list goes on. The original meaning of the word amounts to irrational hatred or prejudice agianst women in general. Yet any fair criticism of Wallis Simpson or Meghan Markle, which I have heard, exists not within the ''evil, terrible woman'' (with emphasis on their sex) frame and the same could well be applied to a man who behaved/behaves in a like manner. If Wallis was truly a paragon of decency, then she would have been sensitive to the reality of what monarchy entails. She would - regardless of his pursuit of her - broken with Edward VIII and reminded him of his duty. If she was what I call decent, but human, she would have remained his mistress, but encouraged him to do what his special role dictated that he do; namely, marry a suitable woman, produce an heir and secure the succession, as many, many Royal mistresses; deeply in love with their regal paramour, throughout history have done. Wallis is not hated due to gender. Wallis is hated due to her actions. And, if one watches the interview with the couple, it is easily seen that she is both dominent and domineering. The same goes for Markle. Her complete disregard for the monarchy has turned people against her, as have her lies. She refused to follow protocal on numerous occasions. She goes overboard wit PDAs. She accused the Rf and British public of ''racism'' when, in the beginning most weren't even aware that she was mixed race. I took her to be caucasian the first time I saw her, because I was completely unaware of who she was. She is disrespectful, and was under the illusion that being a member of the RF is the same as being an American celebrity. She has that horrible American habit of airing what should remain private in public, and has completely made her husband her pathetic little creature.

Both women married for status, thinking that material gain represent success and power. They both got what they want. Megan was an unknown actress until she secured Harry. Wallis, like many women that time married for security. Love them or hate them, they made a difference and have marked their name in history.

😢😢Meghan's problem is that she's never had to deal with racism, and she is spoiled. The book and Netflix were okay, but the Oprah interview was terrible. Oprah was old enough and black enough to know better. The main thing that interview did was hurt Harry. Good, bad, or indifferent, that is his home and family. I used to take up for Meghan, but she is very selfish in some ways. It made no sense to tell the world thoes things to Oprah. We already knew a lot of racism was to blame for the horrid treatment she received. Her mother should have taught her how to handle being black. She has a lot of ways, like her father. Talking too much at the wrong times. I feel sorry for Harry. Meghan is too head-strong. It's a shame because she's very intelligent. Sadly, she refuses to dress and act like royalty. The other women are not better than she is; they just know how to handle themselves in public. Dont marry a prince if you have not studied history.😢

The first time I saw Meghan Markle, I assumed she was white, as most people on this side of the pond had never heard of her. And, even if family speculate as to what a baby might look like - all families do that. It has nothing to do with racism. People wonder if the child will look like mum or dad. I'm white; my family is white, my brother in law is white with an olive complexion and dark hair, and when my sister was pregnant, everyone was speculating as to whether her baby would have her dad's brown eyes or our familial green eyes. Whether baby would be fair haired like us, or have her dad's dark wavy hair. Turned out my niece had our eyes and other facial features, her dad's hair colour and complexion, but with straight hair. If the RF did wonder what a baby produced by Harry and Megan would look like, it was likely due to the same curiosity we felt - not due to racism. I friggin' loathe Meghan Markle and hate what Harry has become.

Ridiculous to give cover to Wallis. She was a loose woman who was married and using men to gain money and position. Her husband was part of the grift. She was no victim of misogyny. She actually "loved" her second husband and did not want to marry the king. Her second husband was most likely paid to step aside and Wallis felt forced to marry the king. She intensely disliked Edward. She and the ex-King were fascinated with Hitler and actually toured Germany and met with Hitler and his henchmen. GB was saved from having a king sympathetic to the Nazis. Both she and the King died alone. Once the King became ill and bed ridden, Wallis never visited him and let him die alone. They were both selfish and unkind. Neither are to be admired. Wow, this video has to have been funded and produced by MM. This is a PR piece for MM, nothing more. I could not give this video enough thumbs down. The facts have been left out and/or twisted.

I've always felt that Wallis actually helped save the monarchy, as King George VI turned out to be such an amazing sovereign who skillfully led his country through World War II and into the 1950's. God only knows what Edward VIII would have done to the crown.

Wallis kept her feelings to herself. She never said anything about them in public. She was used to get him to abdicate. She also didn't want to marry him. She thought he would just drop her for someone younger. She didn't want to leave her husband. Edward threatened to kill himself if she left. Edward and Harry are two peas in a pod. Weak and no clue as to how the world works.

Absolutely. She never wanted to be Queen, she just got herself into a no win situation when the King said he'd kill himself if she left him. She got herself entangled through bad decisions. However, she never maligned the RF in public, never put out nasty comments in newspapers about them, and when she realized that she was going to be trapped forever with a man she did not love, she did her best. AND BTW she was voted Best Dressed Woman in the world several times. THAT is a list MM will never be on, unless they have a "raspberry" category like that do for really bad movies.
