I kinda wish Dino hadn't stopped the audition. I can imagine it going on and on so that David Cross gets the sitcom job, the sitcom becomes a huge success and goes on for ten years, and after the series finale, Dino and Bob approach David to congratulate him for his performance, and he screams 'Noooo!!!!'

The first time you see this sketch, as an audience member you don't know what is and what isn't part of the audition. You're in the same position as the casting guys and that's where the humor comes from. On repeated viewings though, it's all about sitting back and marveling at how great the writing is

Mr Show is one of the best comedy shows ever to come from the USA (or anywhere else for that matter) it's a shame that it is virtually unknown here in the UK as a lot of it is very much the style of humour we appreciate - I could imagine this sketch, for example, performed by members of the Monty Python team. I got into it after Charlie Brooker recommended it on one of his (also very funny) programmes and now I've watched them all - thanks Charlie and thanks Mr Show.

I agree, but I also disagree. You see, I just purchased this Kawasaki motorcycle I've wanted since I was 10 years old. I worked hard for it, I put in my time and I always gave 110%. I deserved this bike. Sure it guzzles petrol like a broke doper and my genitals have shifted 3 inches backwards since I bought the thing, but by golly, she is a vampire in the night. Swooping to and fro the highway like a winged black stallion, galloping over hills and under bridges as swiftly as some kind of Lovecraftian mutant chicken. This machine was forged for a man like me, and I'll be damned if I waste another precious, fleeting moment not barreling down the side of a mountain because the roads are winding and I accidentally hit the gas. Sionara, suckers!

The live parts of the show were shot on video, which means they are stuck in standard definition for the end of time. This will not be released on BluRay.
@JohnCArnold8911 жыл бұрын
Mt. Show was shot in the late 90's, therefore, it was shot on film. They probably--more than likely--still have the film print in a vault somewhere. They would take the film print and re-scan it to fit the Blu-ray format. So, there is a way for them to make it "magically high definition" because film has no pixels and therefore is the highest of definitions.

Mr. Show is like war. You watch so many sketches that are just the long moments of boredom, and then you hit a sketch like this which is the "punctuated with sheer..." can't-stop-laughing. Also, I was just trying to figure out how a recursive function works in programming...and now it all makes sense. Thanks, Bob and Dave!
