Over the last few months, I have noticed that my local Walmart stores have not been restocking their Sports Cards. So I went to the manager to ask why and the answer I got is very concerning.

Walmart has absolutely nothing, especially when it comes to sports cards, just a very much over-rated reputation.

I think Fanatics has decided they are going to make less sets but print more copies of each card they do print. Need to have more sets…bring back Gypsy Queen for starters. They need the production cycle to speed up. I think part of the issue is they are printing too much Series 1 and 2.

A couple of the Targets here in NY that have always had sports cards have seemed to transition to Pokémon and other non-sports cards only. I can’t speak for other stores but this could be the start of a trend. Most of my purchases are online anyway but sometimes I get lucky at the store on a product that sells out online. Most of the Walmart’s by me haven’t had cards in years.
