Wonderful haul! You both just make my heart smile. You remind me so much of my own family. My mother passed away this past December (my dad has been gone since 2005) and I miss her terribly. Sweet Marie reminds me so much of her. God bless you both and thank you for sharing a piece of your lives with us!

Great hauls. I absolutely love ordering from Walmart and going to pick it up. When I go shopping in the store and come home, I am wiped out. My knees can't take it anymore. So, it is a blessing to be able to order and go and pick it up. Thus far I haven't had to get a refund but I know it won't be a problem if I do. Hope it didn't take too long to put everything up. Take care.

I just found you all today. You all seem like precious people. I LOVE your accents! I'm from Ky and have a southern accent. My husband is in the Air Force and we're stationed in upstate NY. I stick out like a sore thumb up here! Haha! Thankfully, people that bring it up are nice about it and say that they like it. :) Great haul!

Hi Calvin and Marie. Your house Marie will be all ready for Easter. I'm sure it will be beautiful. Calivn, my husband and I did a grocery haul last week. Just like you guys, we fear that the price of groceries will be rising. So I buy in bulk things like chicken, tuna, spam, canned milk and yes even Vienna weiners. I love to cook and bake so I buy flour and sugar in 40 lb bags. I even buy yeast in bricks to do all my breads and rolls. We spent a good chunk of money but our pantry is well stocked. Plus we have 4 upright freezers. One for beef, pork and poultry. Another one with baked things, pies, cookies, cakes, bread etc. Another freezer with convenient foods, pasta, pizzas homemade pot pies, casseroles and the last freezer has all the vegetables and fruits that we grew and froze from our garden. Of course anytime our children stop buy we share with them as parents do. They are very good to us as well. I wasn't trying to brag. That is just the way we live. Thank you for another great video

Thanks very much Kathy. I can't imagine keeping up with four freezers. Have a great weekend, Calvin and Marie

You are right about stocking up. I have always done that. Not because of prices necessarily, but I just liked having a supply of things on hand. I agree prices are going up. It disturbed me the other day to hear on the news of the baby formula storage. Praying everyone will be able to get what they need during these times. God bless! ✝️💟✝️
@SouthernCountryLiving2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for your prayers Sheryl. For the past two years it seems like there is constantly a shortage of different items at different times. Baby formula is so expensive and some babies have to chage the formula that they are on occasionally. It is difficult to be a mother with a newborn these days. We are praying for everyone who is experiencing these shortages.

I shopped at my nearest Walmart Supercenter last month. I couldn't find the Mrs. Butterworth's pancake syrup squeeze bottle, but instead of that, I bought the Great Value pancake syrup squeeze bottle. I found and discovered the large Great Value maple syrup jugs. I know "pancake & maple" syrups taste different from each other. I could go to Target and buy myself a new Oxo squeeze bottle so I could plenish it with maple syrup at my home. My reusable Oxo bottle currently has pancake syrup.

That's a great haul...lots of staples for the pantry. I'm looking forward to Calvin's video on grits. I've seen them in the store, but I'm not sure how to cook them. They're not a common food here in Canada, but whenever I hear someone talking about shrimp and grits, it sounds so yummy. I really want to learn how to make the grits properly. You're going to love the chopper/scraper you got from Dollar Tree. I bought one a few years ago for myself, and one as part of a birthday present for one of my sisters. It's so great for picking up your veggies after you cut them up, to put into a pot or bowl. Such a simple thing, but my sister and I raved about ours so much that my Mum and other 2 sisters wanted one as well...so I got them all one for their birthdays as well. I agree about ordering groceries from Wal-Mart. We started doing it during the worst of the pandemic, when we were trying to stay away from people as much as possible. We don't have a car, so we got our groceries delivered. It was great because Wal-Mart carries so many things, that we could order everything we needed from just one store....groceries, cleaning supplies, toiletries and OTC medications, all our cat food and supplies, and household items that we needed from time to time (new pillows, charging cords, batteries, etc.). We loved being able to get our groceries delivered so much, that we've continued doing it. As well as being convenient, we save money as well because we make a list, and order what's on it. When we shopped in person, we always ended up buying more than was on the list.

I have thought about learning to can my own vegetable and fruit. My parents did that from their own garden. Why food has gone up so much I don't know. Gas has gone way high again. My Dad liked those Vienna sausages too. I've never tried the Walmart chili. Walmart will refund dented cans too. I keep cream of chicken and mushroom in my cabinet too. Nice haul.

great haul! i would love to come help you guys put it all away lol id gladly accept any of maries delicious recipes as my payment lol! i dont have much storage room in my kitchen so its hard for me to keep it stocked that much. but i live alone so i dont need much but with the price of food these days, its good to stock up before it goes up even more. the beef stew/tomatoes sounds like a great easy dish that is right up my alley lol i dont really like to cook much but since finding this channel, ive only watched one recipe video so far (macaroni soup) and im going to make that. thats my type of recipe too lol one pot, easy cleanup. ive seen the thumbnails for the rest of the recipes and im going to be watching more!

hahahah I don't trust anyone that doesn't have cream style corn in their grocery hauls lol My little granddaughter and I share a can. I picked up 2 more packages of chicken breasts from Sams Club today and was happily surprised they had only gone up .13 per pound. I will pressure can both packages and ensure there is extra broth in the jar as I'm in the extreme desert and water is always in short supply and will be critical when things get bad!!

I love grocery pickup also! I rarely, if ever, go into the store. In the last 3 years, I’ve only had 2 incidents where I was shorted or something was damaged. I went online and they immediately refunded me. Some people refuse to let online grocers select their fresh produce - I can truthfully say they seem to make better selections than I have in the past. Ha.

I heard what you said about the Dinty Moore stew, and the last time I was out grocery shopping, I bought a can of that and also a can of stewed tomatoes. I have made it yet, but I will eventually. I plan on serving it on rice. (It's been years since I have eaten this brand stew. I prefer to make my own.) Thanks for the suggestion. Also, wouldn't it be more economical to purchase a 10-lb. vag of sugar instead of two 4-pound bags? But then again, I don't know because I never buy the larger size, but I have noticed it being situated next to the smaller bags. I think Walmart may even sell 20-lb. bags of sugar, if I'm not mistaken, and for all sweets you make, maybe you can compare prices.
@SouthernCountryLiving Жыл бұрын
We just don't like buying the larger bags of sugar. The small bags fit perfectly in Marie's cannister.
