They don't. Their website allows for pretty much anyone to sell stuff through it. It's glorified ebay, but with ebay you're at least (usually) getting real cartridges.

Its a reproduction. Its not "legit". The battery is used to keep the save game on the cartridge. The ocarina of time cartridge doesnt have a battery because it uses more expensive non-volitile sram to save the game. The cartridge is not 3d printed, its injection molded like the original, just with a cheaper plastic.

I figured it was a mold. I wonder how in the H E double hockey sticks they make the chips for them

That was a great watch! I'm shocked that it ended up being "legit" considering how sketchy it looked on Walmart's website, lol. Also was super interesting to see the inside and how much newer the tech looked compared to an original N64 cartridge

How does Walmart sell N64 cartridges?

They have to be bootleg. I have no idea how it works. Like are people able to manufacture the chips in 2024?? Was kinda blown away that it worked haha

you need to ram expiation pack to play MM and Donkey Kong 64

I feel like everyone already knows these are fake by this point. This is not a real cartridge. This is a reproduction. The materials that the cartridge is made with are of a lower quality and can damage your system. I encourage you to check out any number of videos on KZbin about how to identify a reproduction cartridge. The Expansion Pak was a memory expansion module for the N64 which increased the system's memory from 4MB to 8MB and was required for a few games to play properly, including Majora's Mask, but also would increase the resolution on other games at the cost of frame rate.

Well, duh, but that's no fun just watching other people do things. I need to get my hands on it myself lol thanks for watching 👍

It is a fake. The original was gold not gold sparkle printed, like Pokémon games were. It is injection and that will play but no one would take that in at trade. It is a rom. Fine if you want to play the game. Plus the original had a lenticular label. The expansion pak was used to enhance certain games that were enabled for it. But it is necessary for perfect dark, dk 64, and lozmm.

I was wondering what the record store would think if I brought it in haha not that I would but I'm sure they have a quick system to identify counterfeits
