I must say that i received my drone today (the S1) and flew it in 10 to 15 mph winds.. very steady in lower winds.. held steady in low speed too. I like it very much and it performed well.

Hiya James, as usual, excellent review. Went to Walmart and they are sold out of this drone. JUST Like most of these drones, you review them and everyone runs out to buy one, like i did. Maybe next time i'll find one. Did Buy a couple 520s models you reviewed though, when wx gets better, ill have to get them outside. Its been snowing here in Oregon, cold winter. Have looked under the camera but still do not see an SD card slot (though I couldn't get the cam unit all the way off for fear of breakage). The drone fly's great and my only real complaint is the left stick sticks in the down/left position. CS was great before so I believe I will bring this to their attention in hopes of a replacement controller. Thanks James!!!

Ya I was going to mention that but CS said they where working on it, yes, you cant change between mode 1 and mode2, I really thought it was something I was doing, lol, the same controller comes with other drones and you can change it. Thanks for watching, and Like you I was afraid to take off the camera.

You are amazing! Haha thank you for that great review! I’m still glad I got the Holy Stone hs175. The Holy Stone Tech support is amazing. I must admit I do like the digital display on the controller of the NetNew drone. The height and distance display on the app of the Holy Stone drone are way to small to read and there is no adjusting the digit display size. You do a fantastic job of helping all of us understand the world of drones. Your videos are very nicely produced as well. Even got your wife involved, way to go! I’m having fun thanks to you and your videos. Keep up the great work! I’ve got a lot to learn but I’m enjoying the journey!

Well, a addendum to my last message James, looked on EBAY and one vender selling them for $100+ Shipping obo, and I offered less and got one, so i should know after Easter how good this drone is, fingers crossed its as good as the one you tested. It really is! Great way to see if you like drones and have GPS, it did great it the wind, camera was pretty bad, but if im a new flyer i would much rather have GPS and brushless motors than a good camera!

I think your looking at the other NetNew drone thats no a GPS, for your first drone I would always get a little Holy Stone HS210 (new version coming soon) to learn the orentation

I asked for an update today as at least I was hoping for a replacement battery. They emailed a plan to replace the entire drone and battery?!? 😇

Sorry, i dont really promote using all the other features on a budget drone, its really meant to take great pictures and learn the aspects of flying a drone, I wouldnt use autonomous flight features on a drone without Obstacle Avoidance

Any sense for the life of the brush motors on the S175? The D upgrades are a bit more than I care to spend as a new flyer. I really motivated for the s175 at this time. I like the dual chargers and controller charger. The easy swap on the blades is a good design. Thx

Another great review! That is one great deal! How does it compare to the HS H520? Holystone has one heck of a GREAT tech support team which is why I hope they come out with some better drones with OIS and gimble control... even up and down gimble with OIS would be fantastic.

This is just a bettter price but it is a little step down from HS drones, espcially the 510 which is the best Flying drone they have ever made for sport flying, just a shorter flight time. But, this drone has a lot to offer for $99

Yes, absolutely, it will take good photos and ok video if its not windy, just remember, it dosn't have obstacle avoidance!

You can fly without a phone, but I would still use it and just set it down to make sure its hooked up to satellites, yes, has a slot, but cant really tell a difference on what is David on the app.

Good review. Seems like a good drone for the price. I would rather spend more on a drone that has available spare propellers and batteries. Some of these budget drones are good until one of the prop blades is broken. Then straight to the garbage.

Jimmi, I bought this on my own, I would never change my opinion on any drone, my channel is here to help, not to sell drones, this drone if flown correctly is pretty awesome, if you have never flown a drone and open the package and it expect it to take off without a prestart checklist you will be disappionted, even $20,000 drones need to go through steps before they can fly
