Walmart is a good indicator. Shoppers there are already in need of rock-bottom prices, there's nowhere else to go. On top of tariffs jacking up prices, add in a new administration planning on cutting govt jobs, maybe millions more unemployed. But billionaires can wait for the bottom.
@brian4363 сағат бұрын
Government needs a serious haircut. Too much waste. I guess $36 Trillion in debt and $1 Trillion a year in interest doesn't justify severe cuts and scrutiny. Let the adults be in charge and make the tough decisions.

@brian436 a real tax cut for workers would increase the deficit temporarily but also put cash back into consumer's pockets immediately, enabling more trips to Walmart again.

Tariffs are evil. In theory it supposed to level the playing field for local manufacturing however here is how it works in reality using a shirt as an example. Cost $2 to import from china and giant retailer sells it for $25. 100% tariff makes that $2 shirt $4 but gov gets $2. Giant retailer now increases price to $35 and blames it on tariffs. Consumer -$10, retailer +$8, gov +$2. Local manufacturer still can't make shirt for $4. Shareholders get richer, average joe gets poorer and manufacturing is still not helped. So who actually wins out of this tariff that is supposed to be good for the economy?
