I remember when Nelda and I began building our log cabin we were concerned about having enough timber on our land to finish. Turned out a neighbor was putting in a multi acre pond and offered the trees to us. We had to shift gears and take advantage of the offer. Glad we did.

A funny thing happend with those logs when we first started processing them. We got them off the ground onto skid logs and intended to debark them before milling. They were dirty dirty dirty. Couldn't get back to them for a couple of weeks but when we did, as we walked up to them we literally could hear this crunching sound. Turned out to be these white grubs with huge pinchers. Well, they debarked all the trees for us and brought in all the wild turkey who feed on them. Sometimes nature will work with ya.

Love the music vibe, suits the mood, visuals well. It's good when it's good. Almost a threat/intrigue involved - not quite Deliverance Apocalypse Now but definitely a Paris Texas Virginia thing going on. Appreciated.

The right machinery and tools make it look easy... of course the operator needs to know how to use them and does! What a wonderful haul. The steep hills cause me to cringe for your safety, however.

Professional courtesy does make a difference! Looking at your neighbors trees, many many are past prime and over ripe for lumber. A lot will just melt into the ground. All those years just wasted for lack of management.... not intentional of course but we see pretty trees, they feel their age. Kinda like I do for a awful example. I know the crotch pine was not a structural piece of timber down at the park but just imagine how curly it might of been inside

Wow, what a score on all that pine! Its so cool to watch your whole system come together. You have so much infrastructure in place now, and you're just making the sausage. Jon and Meg put the "it" in legit! Couple of bad asses if I ever saw one.

As always, great adventure! Don’t leave that soft pine in contact with the ground for more than a few days, or they will rot and get bug infested. Ask me how I know 😔. Red cedar skids work great to keep your vulnerable softwoods up so air can get under the pile.

The wood you dont use for boards you could cut and split for firewood to sell to the campers, or give it to them as a blessing.

Been looking for this newest vid~ weather and other things occur, though. Love the cam mounted on the front of the track loader, (skid steer, whatever). The Pine boards will be useable everywhere just about in your new house. Great channel, love watching you two tackle everything under the sun with no doubt of conquering it~very nice trip up the mountain to claim the ash log! Worth the effort~

It was nice of you to take the time to fill in the trail from when you climbed the hill with Ricky and made the ruts. Yes, I think you will have more success backing up the hill and use the backhoe to pull yourself up the hill. The kiln doors will look great with the ash boards.

When you get Front Wheel spin like you were going up that hill to collect the log, Sometimes if you steer 1/4 turn left and right you can find a bit of traction. You have to turn quite quickly though. Works with Land Rovers so see no reason why it might not work for Ricky.
