Thanks Walt for sharing. I wish UP would have kept the Tennessee Pass open but money talks. I road over it twice in passenger trains in the late '40's. What a collection of great scenery!

That's cool that you got to see the last train to ever run on that line. Its sad but still cool.

Well, the last eastbound anyway. I’m glad you captured that on video for the rest of us to enjoy. What fascinates me is The lead unit, SP 262, also lead the last westbound the very next day and coincidentally arrived at Minturn around the same time as when it arrived in this video. Hopefully one day the economics will make it viable to reopen the line and we can once again see life in Minturn yard. Stranger things have happened, and UP has abandoned lines before and others have come in and reopened them. So one can hope.

I love these classics, what i love most is the sound of the 645 EMD and what i least like is when that wonderful sound is covered up by a horn.

I do hope they reactivate this line. I would make the pilgrimage to see this line if they did. Obviously it wouldn’t be the same as the DRGW/SP tunnel motors, but any action on it would be better than no action.

The train in this video at 38:55 can be seen exiting the Tennessee pass tunnel in the evening, but in the following video that another photographer took. It's from the same day 844 traversed the pass. Pretty cool! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJ3akqqii7SgqbMsi=xVkMfnFBN-pdKifJ&t=147

I’m confused as to why you skipped back and forth to different locations. I get that this was shot at different times with different trains, IMHO it would have made more sense for those unfamiliar with the area to get an end to end view of the line.
