Fun fact about the model Lilly Belle locomotive at the museum: they commissioned my Dad to make one for them. My understanding was that they commissioned 2 of them so I don't know if my Dad's is the one on display or not, but he made one for them. It earned him a ticket to their opening gala.

Hey, Justin! I've been volunteering at the Walt Disney Family Museum for about seven months and just want to say I love your appreciation for the place, and you show it off on camera better than any other KZbinr (myself included ;) ) And yes, the closing hallway is emotionally ROUGH, haha. Definitely a somber ending. Interesting to hear that Gurr can't even look in that room, but I imagine it having that kind of effect on you if you knew the man on a personal level.

Justin, I've been there and take my word for it, no matter how big you think these trees are, they are small in comparison to the Redwoods in Redwood National Forest. You must go there!

Awesome museum! I have a very similar video from my visit on my channel. My favourite takeaway from the whole place was the fact that Walt Disney nearly gave up on his dream of becoming an animator because, according to him at the time that he started, there were already people making things a million times better than he could, but he decided to give it a go anyway and ended up becoming one of the worlds greatest legends of animation. Just goes to show you, you should never judge yourself based on other peoples achievements! :-)

I'm like you. I'm afraid of driving over bridges, too. I'm ok as a passenger, but extremely uncomfortable driving over one. And I drive slower, too. I remember visiting a redwood forest on our way to Disneyland when I was a kid. There was a tree people used to drive their cars through. We spent a few days in Yosemite. Ally would love it, it's so gorgeous. Thanks for sharing the Disney family museum. My eyes got sweaty with respect, too, looking at the room honoring Walt's passing. If you get a chance to return and decide to go to Alcatraz, please video it. I'd love to go on one of their ghost tours at night. but I'll probably never make it there. Love you guys!!! Take care.

Please show us a tour of Mount Tamalpais- the mountain just up from the Muir Woods. Astonishing view from the top to which you can drive. Very historic: over a hundred years ago a railroad carried ppl up the mountain. The people then came down the rails on "gravity cars" with just brakemen keeping them from going too fast. A gravity car is at the top of the mountain. Thank you for your edutainment vids, Justin.

Awesome. You'll be coming up to where I live/have lived (WA/OR). Not sure what is on your agenda, but I'm excited. :) You should check out some of the ice caves in Washington (Guler Ice Cave/Big Four), the many waterfalls (Silver Falls/Multnomah Falls), cool seaside features like Devils Punchbowl, Oregon Dunes National Park, Mt St Helens National Park, the Portland Underground tours, Oregon Vortex, in WA the Fremont Troll (featured on 10 Things I Hate About You), or check out the Tillicum Excursions. If you're in Eastern Oregon, you can see many ghost towns or nearly abandoned towns like Fox or see John Day's Kam Wah Chung Museum... Ironically, we'll be driving to SoCal this year, so we'll be trading places. Have fun. :)

being from Washington, my suggestions are to go and see multnomah falls in oregon. If you plan to drive, go down highway 101. you won't be disappointed. It's a little longer of a drive than if you were to go through truckie and weed oregon but the drive is so gosh darn pretty. go see the chandelier drive thru tree. go to tree of mystery in California. Than drive up the Oregon coast. kinda long but so worth it. Go to the Tillamook cheese factory, than go to the sea lion cave. Also go see the peter Iredale in astoria. Also, McMinnville, OR has the spruce goose. the museum also houses an indoor water park which is inside a jet airplane. on the washington side go up to mt. st.helens. go and explore the ape caves, as well as windy ridge (it's a tough drive but absolutely a bucket lister. you'll never have such an appreciation, a view, or be closer to the mountain without making that trip.) explore the gifford pinchot and mt. Rainer. go to the grove of the patriarchs and go hiking near the ohanapecosh camp site. than go and explore the olympic rainforest which is the only rainforest in the US. my favorite places happens to be sol duc where they have a natural hot springs. there are also some really ancient trees there. go and see Marymere Falls nearby. go lake quinualt where roosevelts work to create the national parks continued, and hike around there. If your into sci fi and pop culture go to the museum of pop culture in seattle. However, I spent 2 years in northern california at college, and I miss the redwoods. so, this video brought me back to where I feel happiest. Also, being from western washington there are a ton of other things to do than just exploring seattle. I've been hiking and camping all up and down california, and mostly washington. these are my favorite spots because they are insanely humbling and beautiful. They are not in any way a tourists view but places less traveled that can make all the difference.

Huh - it just struck me; the "Disneyland Room" bears a striking resemblance to the control room in the HBO "Westworld" series, especially the map disk. Somehow, I don't think this is a coincidence. :-) Also, lots more redwoods up north, around Eureka - you can visit those too. But redwoods and sequoias are kind of problematic to replant, because they naturally require forest fires to reproduce, and we spend an awful lot of effort preventing those. The way it works is that the heat from the fire makes the cones open up and pop their seeds - fire in California is part of the natural cycle, which is why we joke that our seasons include "fire season". Lastly - my granddad, a very sober and taciturn man, insisted he'd seen Bigfoot. He used to drive lumber trucks up there in the deep north woods, and saw one once crossing the road right in front of him. To the best of my knowledge he never made up stories, and he was always dead serious when he spoke of his encounter. He also used to tell the tale of working on the Highway 5 construction project, and being approached one day by an acquaintance who worked in the construction offices by the name of Jim Fratiano. This fellow begged my grandfather to help him; that he was being chased by the cops. My grandfather thought he was just kidding around, and brushed him off. A few days later, he was caught, and turned out to be a mid-level mafia member who was sent to prison for many years. He later wrote a book titled "The Last Mafioso", and sent my granddad a signed copy, with the inscription "I bet you wished you'd believed me!!" on the front page. Because of him and what I know of him... I believe in Bigfoot. :-)

Hey Justin, while still impressive, those Redwoods are small compared to the ones if you head further North. Take Ally to Trees of Mystery in Klamath CA. There you can even see a gargantuan statue of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox as well as take a gondola ride through the Redwood treetops. If you do ever go there, set a course for Stout Grove, it is not far from Trees of Mystery and you will be amazed by the scenery and trees and it would make for a pretty awesome vid!
