The fact that they reused so much animation and that this is the first Disney cartoon to fully use the Xerox method has a clear picture on what the future Disney films would be like until "The Rescuers" softened the drawing lines and didn't use that much previous animation footage.

@hullbkh I have to disagree. The recycling in Robin Hood kind of killed it for me (although for the most part, it was re-using sequences from within itself, not other films). The fact that Little John was practically a cut-and-paste of Baloo from The Jungle Book was very distracting. I know that Robin Hood was low-budget, but the visual quality was impacted so severely that it ruined what was otherwise a great animated film.

Recycled animation is done out of cheapness and/or lazyness. This crosses that line into what is only assumed to be advertisement. Disney likes to do that. I like to play "Spot the recycled material" all the time.

Actually it due to budget reason, Filmation did the same.Animation was a bit expensive back the 50's and 70's , so they reuse the frames to cut the cost.

Damn! Last time I saw this was on The Disney Channel. But that was what, a decade and a half ago. :-/ A decent story and some skilled animation, particularly with the mouse, and beautiful narration by Mr. Holloway. But early in his directorial career, Reitherman was already recycling animation from previous films.

Not only are the animations the same from other Disney cartoons, but some of the music is, too. xD Even if you watch Robin Hood and The Aristocats, they use the same dance segment. They did that a lot with their old animations, I guess it cost less.

Not only did they use the same crocodile. I think they just recolored some of the exact same frames from Peter Pan.
@MrAndrewsaccount9213 жыл бұрын
That doesn't qualify because the Jungle Book was released in 1967, this came out seven years earlier in 1960. But it's obvious that the Jungle Book used some animation and element (or in this case 'elephants') from this.
@vawlkee5113 жыл бұрын
One thing you all missed! Basically this was an experimental film. Disney was experimenting with the "xerography" system that all but did away with hand inking of cels. This was the first to use that method.
