It is such a tragedy for all the world that Walt didn't live to see his brilliant vision through to fruition. I would've loved to have been a citizen of EPCOT.

I've been to Dubai. It is definitely an ambitious and daring expression. But its aim is to be a luxury playground destination for the world's rich and affluent. The EPCOT vision is vastly different, similar only in its scope and scale... and perhaps its audacity.
@AlexBooster8 жыл бұрын
Robert J. Holtz Exactly! Dubai and the adjacent Arab countries aren't interested in making the world a better place. The only thing they are interested in is getting money out of Westerners who don't mind all the oppression and human rights violations that are going on in those countries. So, they create projects that look good to naive (and rich) Westerners.

Robert J. Holtz Walt's vision would have been perfect. However, his perfection i believe would have turned perverse via the CEO's of today. They do not have his vision, imagination and heart. It would have turned into the greedy, superficial, playboy setting only available to millionaire's of today. Disheartening to think about but i can actually picture it.

You know, I hope someone does it. I hope that there's a dreamer out there who can see this kind of community into reality. Walt was the most qualified, no doubt; his team of dreamers had accomplished the impossible. But the Disney company can't be the only one with the ability to create this reality; and if it still has the ability to put these plans into action, I hope they can be encouraged yet to do so. How about a kickstarter for this, haha?

Very late reply, but the Eastern countries have been doing that and you'd be surprised as of how many new such cities, not towns have been designed. China did them already! But a lot of them turned ghost towns, there's still many more under construction. Other such contenders are India, Malaysia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and there's more African countries as well as South American countries as well which our medias don't cover.

Honestly, I think they should have revisited the idea of using the PeopleMover as a transportation system here at Disney World. I could imagine the PeopleMover serving as an alternative to the monorail as it shuttles guests to the parks and to certain resort hotels. Compared to the monorails and buses, the PeopleMover would be much faster and more efficient, as it doesn't have to stop at stations And in turn, guests don't have to wait for another train to come. They just climb on and they're on their way! Also, the PeopleMover rides above the roads, which means that guests don't have to worry about traffic.
@joserafaelmena41522 жыл бұрын
The Truman Show is basically what would have happen if this plan for EPCOT would have been implemented exactly as they imagined (only the transportation system is missing). In the movie they even make reference to the dome. Scary shit in my opinion.

it's a very interesting concept with many useful ideas in it; but, it seems to lack insight into many potential problems. it solves the car and traffic problems, and I think that is the main idea here. it doesn't take into consideration the legal, cultural, governance, infrastructural issues. this was a very gutsy, risky and expensive experiment. most likely to fail. perhaps years to correct and guide it forward. still, in the end it would have been a huge eye opener revolutionizing the world. he took all the risks with his own money, so it would be all worth it for the whole world.

Seems impractical. I mean think about it, there is no areas for planned future growth within Epcot. No way to urbanize the suburbs and no way to sprawl the suburbs out farther based on his plans. Either Epcot would be a Ghetto today with low cost half destroyed houses or the homes would be 900k-2mil + for a small single family house in the Disney "future world". It would either be abandoned by now or so highly sought after that no regular person could dream of affording it

What exactly was "restored" about this? And it doesn't look very HD; true that the images aren't pixelated from the transfer from film to digital, but the film itself hasn't been restored in a way that prevents the blur you see in this film. Its kinda like taking a worn out VHS and saving it in a computer as an HD recording, -in essence nothing was done to enhance the footage so its just as worn out looking as the original VHS. Maybe Disney color-corrected the original film, but other than that, its still very low definition.
