This was a very insightful take, redeeming a lot of the strong-bad I had in my mind about Walt. Now I feel betrayed by the loose portrayal of Bendy and the Ink Machine leaning on Walt's relationship with Disney. There are so many nuanced stories in his life to retell in a medium such as that

Walt Disney was a classical liberal proto-libertarian. Got it. This is an interesting story and I think something that needs to be more known. I notice Disney and Ford kind of get mind swapped in these stories. I think they both went for a similar “industrialist building the future” image and both dealt with unions, who even if for noble causes, were willing to slander their boss to get their way. At the end of the day, both were products of their position in life. Probably further right than the audience of videos like these, but I don’t feel these were evil men. I’m many ways they were doing their best, and came up short in pretty human ways.

Kind of a "judging long dead people by modern view point" but sure. It's kind of a moot point to judge Disney on standards such as representation or preconceived bias. We are talking about a person that was working in the 20s to the 60s. The fact that he hired a black dude in the mid fifties is something to see. We give credit to mister Rogers for inviting a black man on his show. Something that didn't happen until 1969. So why do we ignore things like that for Disney?
@TheDeadmanstrolling
@TheDeadmanstrolling Жыл бұрын
Yeah, not a fan of holding people from ages ago to modern standards. Everyone should only be judged by their own times. An example in the opposite direction of how we treat Mr. Roger's inclusivity: Lovecraft is *particularly* racist because he was already considered racist by his peers in his own time
@freedfg6694

@@TheDeadmanstrolling exactly. The idea of gender or race quotas wasn't exactly a point of note in the 50s. Not saying they shouldn't be, but it's not fair to judge someone who was doing more than most people at the time because they don't conform to modern standards

@@TheDeadmanstrolling did eichmann do anything wrong?
@TheDeadmanstrolling
@TheDeadmanstrolling Жыл бұрын
@@afgor1088 yes, because genocide is evil across all generations and all cultures across time have looked down on it. Even the ones that have orchestrated their own! Also, being a lukewarm racist who was surprisingly open to hiring "undesirables" in the 50s is nowhere near comparable to orchestrating genocide of millions of people. It's not even comparable to a singular murder! There's a reason one of the first recorded laws in human history was to protect against murder, and every ancient culture has a myth or parable about the evils of taking life.
@afgor1088

@@TheDeadmanstrolling why not? I thought everything was relative and all that mattered was the standard of society at the time By the standards of German society at the time eichmann did nothing wrong You can't hold both things to be true, either there are some things wrong no matter what or the most brutal murderers in human history did nothing wrong. Imagine a male teacher is talking about a school topic and wants to use a personal story as an example “My husband and I were shopping and saw….and it reminded me of this lesson” Has this teacher violated the law? What if a student asks about it? Can the teacher say “well you and your family are entitled to your opinion, but I am a gay and I am married to a man, now let’s get back to the lesson.”? It is really unclear and that is kind of the point. It is meant to stifle speech and bully people. It was written just so Desantis could lean back and smile like an asshole and go “did you even _read_ the bill? It says you can’t discuss sexuality and gender with young kids. Why would you want to do that, groomer?” And then you have to explain, but at that point he has already won. It is using a vulnerable minority as a political pawn in a purely negative way. He is scapegoating people who already face violence so he can run for President. It’s abhorrent and evil. It is unbecoming of anyone who calls themselves a Christian. It is an insult to my faith. I spit on his name. Ps. This should be your sign that it was never about free speech. It was about _your_ speech and forcing people to hear what _you_ want them to hear. Also, the insistence on making Robert Desantis’ literal penis a talking point makes me doubt your motives on this topic.
@JallyJam
@JallyJam Жыл бұрын
@@dstinnettmusic The ambiguity of the law is the only fair criticism you can have of it but let's have some common sense here, the real purpose of the law is to stop curriculum based on woke identity politics which includes actively enforcing your ideology since if you aren't 100% supportive of the current thing your 100% enabling the negative counterpart. Nobody cares about someone talking about their husband, parents care about schools not telling them their kids have gender dysphoria and letting them transition in schools. Have you ever seen videos of teachers coming out to their kids? how is that normalizing and not attention-seeking? how is that not weird? "It is using a vulnerable minority as a political pawn in a purely negative way. He is scapegoating people who already face violence so he can run for President." You can't even see the irony in this statement, right? The left literally does this at every single chance it can thats why theirs a counter-reaction in republican strongholds, the teacher is there to teach math to kids, not morals or political theory. If thats now their job, then accept that they won't spoute your version of politics. also violence? dude grow up and get out of the identity political chamber of oppression, how about the 40% of kids who are bullied in general? for anything and everything? "This should be your sign that it was never about free speech. It was about your speech and forcing people to hear what you want them to hear." Isn't it you guys who stand loud and proud at the social destruction of people? awww I'm sorry you are now getting the same treatment but you are absolutely right, why would you let your enemy subvert your children and society to destroy you? do they believe that views should live in isolation from a person's private life? oh of course not so why would you? oh, they want you to so they can win the culture war. Cope, you may be able to leash Cali or new york but county by county we will win in our strongholds, you aren't the clergy, you are not a divine party and we should use every single trick your side uses and worse. The new right doesn't want to lose slowly, we want to win. Fear that, fear trump has made the right more diverse than any other candidate in a century. All you have is shame and fear as a governing policy, it's the future and one people in one nation is what we want to create while you cry about kids not being able to be given puberty blockers then try a guilt tactic "but this is hate speech! they are gonna kill themselves!".

@@dstinnettmusic Why does the teacher have to include that his husband and him where shopping ? it would make just as much sense to say "I was shopping and saw". I think the teacher should just say when presented with a question about gender or sexuality " that topic is inappropriate for class ask your parents" saying that the teacher should answer the question makes it seem like you've never been too school😂 I agree that the bill is going too stifle speech that's the point, since you gave a bunch of examples on why the bill may be vague Ill give you an example of why the bill is in place, lets say were in class of 6 year old's who are very impressionable and a teacher who is using her position of authority to to teach these kids her specific ideology that is not based on comprable scientific research. you say that the point of the bill is also to bully a minority but you didn't provide any evidence to that statement. also your ps doesn't make any sense? how was I using desantis penis as a talking point ?

@@flyingfoamtv2169 so I'm going to introduce you to a couple of intriguing concepts. In every conversation there is a point where you walk in for the first time, that is this instance for me. And from what he said it's not just him that is calling foul, but an entire community. For that to be so I assumed that there was an explanation of why this community was upset about something that seems fairly non-controversial to me, who is on the left. Secondly there is a complex piece of software programming called an "algorithm", in this piece of software places videos in front of curious minded individuals who want to learn about a vast amount of atypical information.
