Crikey! What a travel day 😬 Well done for keeping your cool and taking the problems as best as anyone could. I think this serves as another notch in my 'never flying BA again' stick 😂. I'm still waiting for my refund claim from a cancelled flight in June, but hopefully you get the money back and the compensation you're entitled to. You did a great job of documenting the experience and thank goodness you made it with the help of the lovely desk agent 🙏🏼. I hope you both had a great holiday at the Riviera! Yay Riviera neighbours!! 😊

It was a long day, but we got there in the end. We have said never again with BA but their prices are just so competitive, I know we'll give in and book with them again, haha. We fell in love with Riviera, definitely some where we would love to add points on to our DVC. Thank you for watching :)

All British Airways seem to do is cancel flights. Just think, if they give an excuse of anything to to say it’s behind their control regardless of it being the truth, they then get out of paying compensation, fuel costs, airport fees etc etc. They are saving a fortune with all flight they have cancelled this year.

Yup, I agree, so many cancellations at present, its a nightmare

Make sure you claim your £520 each for the original cancellation. We always fly with virign and sadly had a flight cancelled back in may from orlando. However we submitted our claim on line there and then and they paid out in 7 days and the receipts for additional costs a further 2 weeks later. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday 😊😊😊

We’ve put our claims in but who knows if and when we’ll hear or get anything back. That’s an amazing turnaround with Virgin, very impressive.

You guys got through that very well. We were supposed to have flown into Tampa the day after you, but of course had to cancel with the airport closing. I’m surprised you found an Uber to drive that distance!

Oh no, sorry to hear that. I hope you made it out eventually. Yeah we were surprised too but the nice guy who took the job said he didn't want to leave us stranded. The other option would have been a one way car hire.

Thank you, it was definitely a travel day for the records for us. We do, we prefer them usually. To be fair this is the first time in all the times we have been to Orlando that we've had problems so I do think we'd book BA again.

Hiya 🤗 you both did so well to still go to Epcot but I honestly don’t blame you cause it kind of makes a really bad travel day that teeny tiny bit better ☺️ It’s a shame so many food options are closed but at least you were able to get some fish and chips. A very trying travel day but glad you made it despite all the obstacles. When travel goes wrong it’s heartbreaking but well done for keeping going and hope the trip was worth all the hassle in the end.

Oh crickey what a travel day, I can imagine how frustrating that must have been, I’m also a nervous flyer so again this situation which was so much out of your control will not have helped Lisa, well done for keeping it together I’m sure on the inside it was a different story! Yey you got to Tampa, a lovely Uber driver and then to Disney all ok in the end 👏

It was definitely one for the memories, not great when I don't like flying but we got there in the end. The uber drive was so nice and we were so grateful for him, he didn't want us to be stranded, can't thank him enough for taking the ride. Ending with Epcot made it that little bit better :)

We should have been on the same flight but instead flew virgin from Heathrow. They had given us the same flight as you as an alternative though! Just incase you need it again there is a 24hr phone line as I phoned at 3.10am the kids said it’s the only time my needing the loo in the middle of the night was good lol as the Gatwick app had notified me the flight was cancelled. The bad news was we had already done bag drop so took 90 mins to get them back. So I was up 25 hours but we still managed to watch the fireworks at MK ❤ I have booked BA again for next year though as the price was right. I hope the rest of your holiday was stress free x

I really didn't want to have to get to Heathrow and then fly indirect, I am such a nervous flyer at the best of times. Oh I didn't know abut the 24 hr phone, even the ladies at the desks didn't mention that, said we had to wait til 8am for the number to open. Yay, so glad you managed to see the fireworks, makes a bad day just that little bit better :)

We got caught in the storm delays on way home. Our Orlando to Atlanta got delayed so missed connection onto Heathrow. We had to stay over to then fly from Atlanta to JFK then onto heathrow. A full 29 hours later we arrived home. Virgin/delta wasn't interested in the slightest got no compensation because it was caused by weather . Ridiculous.

Oh wow, what a nightmare. I didn't want to fly indirect so we held out for the Tampa flight. They first told us technical issues, the staff at the airport didn't know what was causing it, so I'm hoping we'll get something, I'm prepared to fight, hahaha. It is ridiculous as it's such a nightmare for all concerned, being a nervous flyer did not help things at all.

​@@ReevesFamilyAdventures we would prefer to do direct but for a family of 4 it makes it a lot cheaper to do a connection for a full 2 weeks in school hols. We must have traveled home the day after you arrived . As Tampa airport was closed the day we flew out of Orlando .

Ah yeah I can see that makes a difference with a larger family. They closed Tampa midnight on 28th I believe

Good luck getting your money back for the Uber. Still waiting for reimbursement from them of hotel costs after they cancelled my flight at the last minute in July.

All we can do is try, we've submitted our claims and will fight for it if we have to, not a lot of other options unfortunately.
