The difference is that WDW has way more guests vacationing from different states and countries who only get to go annually at most, if ever again. When you feel like it's your only chance for a long time, you want to make the most of your time.

....No sorry. At least I hope not. Haha 😂 We are"local" 2 hours away and when we go it's time to move it or lose it. If you want to slow down you sit somewhere. We try to stay out of the way...otherwise that's rude. We are passholders but Disneyland IS our vacation. We don't get a two week long vacation like many others do. This is how it is for most passholders I know. They work hard to pay the bills and know their work doesn't tolerate time off like that. So we get to go on weekends and it sort of makes up for not getting that sweet vacation time that others do. But because of that we also don't waste our time. If lines are too long we aren't dealing with that either. It's Genie Plus or we grab a bite and leave. Life's too short!

I feel size difference plays a role. Disneyworld is much larger than Disneyland. They have a lot more attractions, so it's important to be as efficient as possible with your time so you can experience as much as you can. At Disneyland, you are able to make a circuit around the whole park within a couple of days and get to see almost everything they have to offer.

My family has passes for Disneyland, we live 2 hours away. We absolutely hate driving in the traffic. Especially with health problems. But it's our vacation throughout the year. Like many Californians we don't have a job that affords us a two week long vacation every year. So we have to enjoy our weekends to the max. This is why when we go to the parks and made the effort out there and pay parking etc we want to enjoy the heck out of it. We understand some days will just be crowded and lame. But we also make a point to be polite and not rude if WE are slow. You move out of the way if you're slow, sit down, figure out what you're doing, etc before you get up in the way again. Most passholders in SoCal seem to understand this. At least the ones we know. I hope most do....one of the most annoying parts of a not-so-great Disney trip is when crowds of zombies take over and they can't figure out how to walk a straight line. Lol

1. It's the cali laid back lifestyle 2. Is really an extension of #1, most of DLands guest population annually are people local to the area, from california, or a state or two away. Not saying they don't have guests from far away, they do. Again it's just the majority. So to them for example, seeing mickey is just like, "cool there's mickey," this is why you see a lot of characters roaming areas. Everything is just almost like "been there, seen that," and not in a bad or bratty way. This is also why it seems like DLand "gets more stuff" than wdw. If they don't switch things up here and there often guest attendance drops.

This is also why I think many of us don't rope drop tbh....I wish we did more but it's just not feasible with traffic plus late work nights. But when we can heck yeah we are there! It’s also a more immersive park in my opinion. DW has gotten rid of so many of the original rides, & the outside areas aren’t as on theme, or in the magic if that makes sense. The history of DL is also so sick, the amount of original attractions they still have & just maintain or make minor upgrades to is crazy. It’s always sad when they replace a theme with a newer film rather than adding on or something. My great uncle also came up with & built the original dog with the key that’s still in the pirates ride & created a few other rides so the the personal history & nostalgia is a huge personal plus haha.

I think it's because Disneyland guests tend to be locals, which means they go more frequently and don't need to rush to rides as much since they've probably been on them a decent amount. Walt Disney World tends to attract tourists around the world, making trips less frequent, some even once in a lifetime, and therefore sprinting to rides may be necessary.

People literally live IN WDW... Golden Oak. I hope most do....one of the most annoying parts of a not-so-great Disney trip is when crowds of zombies take over. We definitely don't waste precious time in long lines. 40 mins is hard to swallow but we absolutely don't understand how many are willing to wait in 50+ lines....even 2 hours lol. No way. We buy Genie Plus/LL for really crowded days or we eat then leave. Because meandering isn't ok. Too much life to experience.

I think at WDW there’s just so much more to do and see, so many guests at the park, etc. To avoid living in lines you just have to get there as early as possible to beat the crowds and get on the popular rides.

At Disneyland, only people who rope drop are people who have work later in the afternoon, to see the new limited edition stuff, and people with tiny kiddos. Plus most people who are passholders know what days to go and what times to go. It gets most crowded between 10am-3pm, and next days to go are mon-wed.

imo its because they have more characters that walk around at Disneyland, you don't have to wait in a long line to see a character, so they don't mind waiting in the ride lines

As someone who’s been to Disney world 19 times (and I’m 17 years old) I can confirm that that is exactly how Disney world is, the second the rope is open everyone sprints to the best rides asap

As someone who went to both more then once. Disney world has a way bigger park with more things leading to a higher traffic area of people leading a more high stress atmosphere. Disneyland is smaller easier to navigate and people aren't as stressed and have more space to roam around freely

Okay so at disneyland there is definitely rope dropping. We got early entry to the park every morning at 7:30 because we were guests grand Californian. Although frontierland, adventureland, and galaxy’s edge all open at 8:00, and let me tell you there are Loads of people waiting to rope drop and run to rise of the resistance. Also with California adventure, radiator sprinfs racers LINE opens at 8:00 so we would ride guardians of the galaxy or something while one of our family members got us a spot in the pre-line that would go down radiator springs. But when it turned 8:00 the amount of guests that were running down downtown radiator springs was impressive. So i think rope dropping varies depending on what time of year you go.

MY FEELING THAT DISNEYLAND FANS ARE WAY MORE RELAXED BECAUSE IT'S LOCATION IS WAY SMALLER THAN DISNEYWORLD BUT ALSO EASIER ACCESS TO EVERYTHING AND DISNEYWORLD FANS ARE IN A RUSH MORE THAN DISNEYLAND BECAUSE THEY HAVE MORE GUEST AND ALSO ITS A BIG PLACE.

Others have said it, but Disneyland is mostly locals. They'll get there later in the day. The one that REALLY surprised me was Disneyland Paris. We got there 15 minutes before they opened, and we were the only 4 people waiting to get in. When they opened the gates, a 2-3 others showed up. We honestly thought we'd gone to the wrong place lol. However, it's the same thing as CA. It's mostly locals, so they show up later in the day.

I went to Disneyland about 3 months ago. Thankfully we had early park entry. But the first day we didn't realize we had early park entry and had to wait for the rope drop. Honestly, there's just not enough people there at 7:30 to 8 in the morning to justify sprinting to a ride the second it drops. I was there a total of 5 days and the park didn't really get busy until 11AM.

Depends. We’ve done rope drop at Disneyland before and it was nearly a riot with people trying to shove their way to the front before the rope dropped. Can usually determine when there would be a lot of people or not depending on which rides are down that morning because if it’s a major ride that’s broken for the day they will probably go to California adventure first or just not be in any rush to go to Disney
