Walt Disney World in a Hurricane - All 4 Parks! Dorian: The Storm that Mostly Missed

Walt Disney World during Hurricane Dorian!
The parks were closed early, hurricane preparations went into effect, we braced for the huge category 5 storm all week... and then it became a 4, 3, 2... stayed offshore, and while still a monster, only sent the weakest of tentacles to the Magic Kingdom or, when the storm itself finally came, to Disney’s Boardwalk hotel, where we anticipated sheltering from the storm, but instead left the comfort of the inn to try to find some storm! Oh well, we don’t make the weather, all we can do is report on it! From Animal Kingdom to Hollywood Studios and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, to EPCOT, and the Magic Kingdom! Whether with Dumbo, Figment, a Yeti, or the Twilight Zone itself, this is one heck of a day and one heck of a Walt Disney World adventure! Only in Florida

Being on Everest when its raining is the most epic thing! I remember going on the ride at night right when the sky opened up and started pouring. It only hurts if you open your eyes.

I really enjoyed this! The idea of only going on one ride each park was interesting. It made me think which rides I would choose if I were in your situation. Also seeing what they do to prevent damage was interesting. They know what they’re doing.

I was at WDW for a week just days before Hurricane Katrina hit. It was wild! The first few days were perfect and then we noticed the storm coming in. Our last few days were still okay, until all of the clouds came in and at times we’d have to hunker down under que awnings, and we’d witness lightning strikes hit ground right in front of us while we waited to get on rides and such. Within the next few days the storm got worse, and they finally called each of our hotel rooms, and told us that all of the parks were officially closed, and if we wanted to go to the cafeteria we could; there would be games, music, movies and characters. We were not allowed to wander the property or even try to leave, if we had our own vehicle(we didn’t). We chose to stay in our room, and hearing the early stages of the storm hit was amazing and scary, it was quite strong! The walls would rumble and the windows and doors would rattle. The next day it was clear, we made our way out, got to the airport and went home. Three days later Hurricane Katrina hit!!!! It’s an experience i will never forget.
