I wasn’t sure if this was the Special of The Week with Robert W Morgan. Until the announcer reassured us many times within the first three minutes. These old radio shows are a hoot. So important then, kind of silly now. Thanks for posting this.

That’s what I was thinking at first too. Why is Morgan repeatedly intro’ing the show? I used to work in radio. Then I realized the audio starts with 3 promotional spots back to back so local stations could use them each to promote the upcoming week’s show. I think the show starts at about 1:30.

I listened to this back in '79...it was great to hear from them...as we were still a long way from Gaucho being issued ;-)

RWM was a fixture in local top 40 radio when I grew up in the 60s. I don't know if he outgrew top 40 or it outgrew him, but the last time I heard him on the radio he was playing Frank Sinatra and other standards. Thanks for this. I eat up all things Dan.

Yeah this is great. I've heard almost every interview that's been out the past decade, and this one is a nice treat. The Robert Klein '77 one was of a similar vein I believe. Thanks Ivan.

No problem, I was surprised no one posted this yet. When’s the next album coming out? I enjoyed Rosie and The Look

I enjoyed this a lot. The jingles are so much fun. And actually well written!

The intro is 6 minutes, typical American radio of the day; cripes! A decent radio interview resides here buried under a load of schlock. "I'm Robert W. Morgan" is said out loud a thousand times too many. The original interview of an hour compressed into less than 20 minutes. Great to hear the Dan in top form, but thank heavens this style of programme has gone the way of the dinosaurs.

How many times can he announce and build up that they are steely Dan. Holy shit. But thanks for posting this.

Haha who knows, and no problem. I’ll post more when I find them.

There were originally commercials in between each of those "bumper" announcements. It seems they've been edited out of this recording.

Just about to say the same thing and the amount of self-promotion throughout the show is ridiculous!

The interview seems to have been lifted from this one with Mary Turner: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaHXiaadfpeMbdk

Hey do you have an audio recording of them doing “What a Shame About Me” from 2008 with Jeff Young singing?

I had no idea that existed, I’ll do some research on it

Nice reference to Dylan. So fun. Not only great musicians- but carefully cultivated their public persona’s - as carefully as producing the records. Great.

The host talks way too much! He’s in love with himself and his own voice.

It's a pretty fantastic voice though. I'd be in love with it too if I possessed it.

Believe it or not, before the days of instant access via the Internet to background info on a band like SD, radio DJs were obligated to provide a lengthy in-depth monologue on the history. Regular people who wouldn't have otherwise known about SD received their first exposure to the group through guys like Robert W. Morgan.

I swear I heard this on KZbin before but I couldn’t find it so I thought I’d post it. When you think you’ve heard all the interviews..
