I knew his 1st wife before they got married... she was a pretty good kid, but had a bit of a temper. According to her, at that time, he was apparently a very nice guy. He raised her daughter from a previous relationship as his own. I never heard anybody (who would really know) say anything bad about the guy. If they're anything like my mom's parents, she'd be laughing at the roast and giving as good as she gets, which Walter would find hilarious. My dad has a friend who married a woman who looked like the "woman" in the late 80s Timex "Ugly Lady" commercial. When they were getting things ready for the wedding, they hired my uncles and their band to play at the wedding. The band initially wanted to play Jimmy Soul's "If You Wanna be Happy", but decided against it, thinking it would be rude, mean, and uncouth. Years later, she found out about it and was very disappointed that they didn't. Though she did appreciate their consideration of her feelings, that was just the thing she would have loved. Some people don't care that they're ugly and they straight up roll with it.
