I've always really liked the gun dealer as a character. He knows that there's a market to be fulfilled, and he also knows that what people do with his products after they pay for them is precisely none of his business. He doesn't WANT to know. He might have said "something like Rambo's gun" since that's a movie he might have seen, but then he was never big on movie references. The north also didn't have as many slaves as the south because their economy didn't require it to make a profit. Even the writers didn't know what they wanted to do with the M60 at the time they wrote this episode. Seriously, everyone loves the show, but I'm just impressed with how well the writers were able to deal with so many behind-the-scenes curveballs thrown at them. Raymond Cruz leaving the cast meant that Gus Fring would become the main Villan, that's just one example.

I do remember Vince saying while they didn't know exactly how it would be used, the general idea was "Walter is saving someone." Most fans on the Internet pretty quickly figured it would be to save either Skyler (wrong) or Jesse (correct), but exactly how it would be used and against whom was always a mystery. (Although in hindsight I guess it was pretty obvious the gang from 508 would be the new villains). I remember people thinking the Declan gang from Arizona would be the big bads, but of course they ended up being something of a red herring misdirection. Man, it was wild when this show was still on, we saw this flashforward not knowing at the time there'd be over a year break between the season, so it took a long time for this to be resolved. Lots of fun theories about what would happen.

Some interesting facts about the M60. It is a belt feed weapon. It generally requires two people (soldiers) to use. One to operate the machine gun and one to feed the belt. When the weapon gets too hot, a pair of leaded gloves are used to swap out the red hot barrel with a spare one. Walt used a remote control to use the M60, he didn't exactly follow specific guidelines.

yeah the belt was in the ammo box attached to the m60. they even paid attention to detail that the belt was loaded in order: 4 m80 ball rounds and 1 m62 armor piercing tracer. which was visible during the shootout.

Had the fortune of shooting one in basic. "I NEED A BURST" 18 rounds in 2.5-3 secs... the barrel gets so hot, you have to change it out. Thats 360 rounds a minute .16 rounds per soldier, for a squad of 10men in 1 minute firing down range. 12 M-16s (30rounds per clip) thats crazy... all in 1 minute... that weapon gets you life in prison

I love the hell out of this series but one thing i can't get over is just how unrealistic the timeline is..i mean all this shit up to the day of the finale happened in 2 yrs..wtf?..why not just make it real time like 5 years or i can even buy 3 years but 2? I don't know about that..much like the mistake they made when they Jack mentioned Osama being killed it's hard to believe they would choose such a condensed timeline but i know i know no one and nothin is perfect
