They are pretty close to free fall. It seems that light hits don't carry quite as well with strings and there doesn't seem to be as many solid 8's and 9's. There are good breaks and bad breaks in free fall and with string pins.

I absolutely despise the pin action from string pins.

@@walterraywilliamsjr3964 I guess I'm just stuck in the past. I like to judge my shots by what certain pins do and those pins do not do those things with strings attached. We not all as talented as you. They could make you bowl with a Wiffle Ball and you'd figure it out.

@@lockedonlaw Which shots don't do what you expect? I'd say most of the time, good shots got strikes. Some not flush shots did strike which happens with free fall. It isn't the end of the world which some people seem to think.

@@walterraywilliamsjr3964 I should have been more specific. It seems fine on strikes, maybe even less likely to leave solid eight pins. It's on spares and especially splits where the odds of conversion even on a good shot seem to go way down. It appears to have taken the kickbacks entirely out of play. I also watched at least one split conversion attempt in your tournament where the pin came to a dead stop because it ran out of string. Not ideal.

@@lockedonlaw Again, which specific shots are you referring to? I don't know of any split conversions that were stopped due to strings. Good and bad breaks happen in both free fall and string pins. Before they made adjustments to the string lengths, pins bounced out of the back too often. Is it perfect, no, but I don't care for bad shots that strike and great shots that don't strike with free fall pins. Unfortunately the string pins didn't take away the cross over strike or even some of the nose shots. There didn't seem to be as many tripped 2 pins for right handers. There also seems to be fewer solid 8's, 9's and even solid 10's for a right hander. In the end, string pins aren't going to make a mediocre bowler great. The great bowlers will still bowl well in my opinion.

What's wrong with them? Perfectly on spot racks every time and you actually have to throw good shots to strike.
