Thank you so much for posting this...It is important that us Caribbean peoples study and absorb our intellectuals as much as we do others if for nothing else for posterity.

One of the greatest mind of the 20th century. It's so sad that back here in Guyana they have him buried in what I can call a dump site! And all of that is due to politics.

Shame on Guyanese leaders, these non-patriotic, self-serving tyrants! Lohvissimo!

That indeed is a shame!! We should organize a campaign with his family for a Walter Rodney days and have him on a national stamp if he isn't already on one. Some of my Guyanese students at John Jay College here in New York get to know him for the first time after they take my class

The reason is that the political leaders in Guyana serve themselves and their own constituents. Walter served Guyana and the world from a truly socialist and human perspective, not a tribalistic one. He was really for Guyana as a whole: not only Blacks, not only Indians, not only nothing. The WPA stood for everyone, not just one or the other races. And because all the Guyanese leaders have come from either the two parties (the Black or the Indian one), it isn't in their best interest to "big up" Baba Walter. One thing I wish young Guyanese would learn is that the WPA consisted of all races. All Guyanese.

Greatest mind who joined people who didn't like him and people who looked like him to fight against his own. He allowed himself to be used by people who were weaker than he was.

The Most effective Social and Economic History of Guyana amongst Africans and East Indians, and the Role of British European Capitalists - from the Indentured Servitude of the East Indians, post 1838/ 1847 until Walter's Assassination in - - - 198 - - This Scholarly Discourse by Dr. Walter Rodney has profound actuality and currency - that's even today (in Guyana, Trinidad and Suriname) Vive Le Professeur Dr. Walter Rodney!

I always love Sir Walter Rodney .Rest in Peace beautiful souls. President Desmond Hoyte, Dr Cheddie and Janet Jagan and Mr Burnham'. They have done far more greatness to Guyana ' s Economies and improved livelihoods post 1992 with the exception of Mr Burnham' and Hamilton Green tenures.

To the whole world! I was fortunate enough to hear Walter speak twice in Montreal, once at UWI in Trinidad.

Delighted to salute Dr Walter Rodney and hope that the debate reopens urgently on the precise nature of the Western meddling in Africa still, ostensibly to democratize the Afrcan continent but, clearly, with other nefarious intent.
