@petitor_veritatis19362 жыл бұрын
@@leithsapitan1428 It's actually been attributed to many sources throughout the years, including even Thomas Jefferson . I choose to attribute the quote to Malcolm X after gathering conflicting data, primarily because it's more befitting to someone with his kind of integrity and intellectual fortitude versus someone who purchased humans at auctions and actually "owned" them as slaves. You know what I mean? It just doesn't seem to derive from a "master" of a Plantation who had his way with black female slaves instead of simply rolling over and grabbing his own wife. Thank you for sharing with your disillusioned commentary, but I don't think I'll change the source in this instance. Who's your source? Google? 😂 I also would like to say that I grew up in a house with historic ties to Malcolm X, was told as a child by my parents that this quote belongs to him and was commonly associated with him while he was alive. I am confident therefore that I have made the correct association, verbatim.

Miroslav, This interview was recorded while Malcom El-Shabazz was still member of The Nation of Islam (NOI). When he broke away he was developing into a pretty good speaker. If he had survived longer I believe he would have become much better. Some things that he said that were not true were: The Supreme Court made a law: The Congress makes the law, not the Supreme Court. The Court rules on the constitutionality of a law. Counting slaves as 3/5s of a man: That was a comprise between the slave-holding states and the "so-called" free states. The slavers wanted to count 1slave as 1 person so they could get a majority of representatives in Congress. The states with fewer slaves wore them down to the 3/5s rule so the slave states wouldn't leave the union. DD
@МирославГлигорић4 жыл бұрын
@@desultorydilletante4120 When you say that Congress passes laws and not the Supreme Court, it is the same as when someone kills a man and the newspapers announce that he was killed with a knife and the police an hour later announce that he was killed with a firearm, a dead man is a dead man regardless of the way he was killed.
@kimobrien.4 жыл бұрын
@@МирославГлигорић Once every ten years a census of the total number of people who live in the US is used to determine the number of Congressmen from each state. The Slave owners did not want Black men voting but they did want them counted. Today Trump wants to reduce their numbers by not counting those who aren't citizens. Yet the Constitution as currently interpreted counts all people (young or old citizen or non citizen) not just those who are citizens. In fact caucasian non citizens and women voted in many states before the 20th Century. It wasn't till 1920 that the first presidential election was held without any legal voting by non citizens. Many government programs have money disbursed by number of residents not just citizens even if non citizens are not directly benefited.

His assassination shoots holes (no pun intended) in every claim Malcolm X ever made. He was safe around white people and murdered by his own kind, just like black people in 2024. In order to measure just how intelligent and socially aware this Malcolm X really was, It's important to realize that back then the internet did not exist, and that the mainstream media was even more biased and manipulative. Thus, to be as informed and aware as Malcom X required A LOT of his own research, a lot of social interaction, and a lot of thinking and common sense.
@abdullahrasheed14933 ай бұрын
What you say is true , but also keep in mind that Malcolm had help from people like Elder Michaux who had established a book store in Harlem on 7th avenue, and historian Dr. John Henrik Clarke and others such as those who he respected inside of the Nation of Islam. He had the intelligence to know that “no Man is an island” so he did research and kept up with the world events but he also was smart enough to accept help from others in their respected fields.

What Malcolm X said is also true for Brasil as well. There can never be equality in an integrated society. The only way is to go back to Africa and build it anew. Unfortunately, Africa is still being run by the West, but if Africa unites, it can grow strong and rid itself of Western influence.
