Whereas Light was a complete failure and he couldn't even redeem himself, I hated that piece of shit till the end. But I do love his character, if you know what I mean.

As far as who won the rap battle, it's hard to say, both their lines were on point. It's crazy how similar they are, both were even undone by a stupid mistake. Walt left Gale's book on the toilet, and Mikami exposed himself by not being careful. But, characters wise, I have to give it to Walt. When you think about it, their crimes are inherently different and the thing that sets them apart. Light's goal is to kill people with a magic notebook, becoming a god of sorts and using that power to make people so terrified of him they'll never commit crimes again. Walter's goal is to make money- so much money, that his family will never want for anything when he's gone. While both motives seem heroic on the surface (wanting to end crime and wanting to provide for a family) Walter is far more innocent and slower to evil. By the very first episode, Light considers himself a god, and has already distanced himself from the atrocities he commits. His show is less a character study, and more about watching this magnificent asshole get away with his grand schemes. Light is unbothered by his crimes, and never even regrets any of it that I can remember. All he gets is a brief moment where he reconsiders, only to then go back to his rampage seconds later. However, Walt is far more human and his show is a slow burn character study, it takes 3 episodes for him to even commit his first murder. His guilt always haunts him, and it takes him until the end of the how to admit he was also serving his own ego and that he liked making meth. There are a few reasons for this: one is that Walt and Light have a big age difference. Light is only just on the verge of graduating high school when Death Note begins, and his innocence and general naivete actually makes him easier to corrupt, while Walter has had 40 years of conditioning that forced him to act and even think a certain way. It took longer to break him because he was far more lawful before the show began. The other thing is a reason in real life- Death Note only had two seasons, while Breaking Bad had five. If Death Note had more time, it could have explored Light Yagami's journey to becoming Kira in far greater detail. Death Note is also generally fast paced, and spends much more time on the plot than the characters. So, in summary, I prefer Walt. His turn to the dark side was far more believable, and worryingly realistic. He didn't start selfish and manipulative, but he became that way overtime. Light is undoubtedly fun to watch, but not for the same reasons.

In all honesty I have only seen Death Note and not the other show although i personally think that Yagami Light would win, the first reason for this is the shinigami eye deal, light would only have to make the deal when hiding then just look at them then write there name into the Death Note and Yagami already won, and he was able to fool L who was easily able to discover and actually though that it was Yagami out of over 7 billion other people and then convince L to consider other people. Anyways, that is why i think that Yagami Light would win although i would love to have a pleasant conversation on why you think that the other person would win.

Similar to Walter against Dexter Morgan I think it really comes down to if Walter knows what Light can do. Now Light has a MASSIVE advantage literally having a weapon that can kill anywhere with minimal drawback. So yes, 99% of the time Light would come on top. If Walter somehow found out about the book and Light’s eye ability in advance. Ski Mask and sniper bullet to the head or bomb in his room. I started out more on the fence but then ended up agreeing with you. The Death Note is stupid powerful. You've probably heard this already. But Breaking Bad is very good.
