This was the standard weapon for the Dutch police and other law enforcement from the 80-ies untill 2013. In that time several alterations took place, such as: altered magazine release, because magazines fell or partly came out in patrol cars due to pressure from the back rests. An additional spring was added to keep the firing pin in the down position to avoid a round going of if the pistol fell. The grips were replaced bij rubber grips made bij Hogue. Aan most important : Due tot the switch from 9 mm para tot Action 3 munition, the slope to guide the munition into the barrel/firing chamber was altered. The new munition also wore out the gun faster then the old munition did. Barrels started to crack after e certain amout of rounds fired. From 2013 is was succeded bij the Walther P99Q NL

Yeah my buddy was so cool to let me borrow his P5. When it is next to my p6 and p7 they look like a family that have meant to be together.

Nice, man! The P5 is one of my most favorite pistols of all time. I shoot it sooo well. It's just a natural fit for my hands and my style of shooting. I also have a BMI P5 and it has been 100% reliable... and insanely accurate. I wish they weren't so damn expensive. I'd get another one and shoot the piss out of it. Thanks for validating the excellence of the P5!

If you swap the P5 mag release for that of a P1, you can then use P1 mags in your P5. Caveat: The P5 mags won't work with the P1 mag release.
