It's because when clambering a round the breech has the case to slow down and cushion the impact you're basically damaging the lockup when falling on an empty chamber

but how damaging are? does it affect the performance? gun still reliable?

The droppin the slide on an empty chamber taboo is from 1911s: which it will damage. Polymer frame pistols it’s not an issue.

Random question. My Walther P99 AS full size is my first gun/EDC. I am looking into getting a P99c. will my current fullsize holsters work with the compact version? Thanks.

I have only the two Walther P99 Gen 1's in 9mm the QPQ model and the OD Green model as well one for each hand is enough for me !!!

In terrible times like these where Walther has now discontinued these well loved P99s, maybe it's time to address that with a new video.

No Walther P99 TA? Weeeeeaaaak. Lol jk very jealous of your collection. Would love to know who the handful who got their hands on a P99 TA are.

Is the chrome slide factory? On GB I saw a Gen 1 9mm with one. Also has anyone converted that Walther video into digital yet?
@Speedogg1382 жыл бұрын
Both Titanium are factory. I ripped the video to digital from a VHS, but can't post it for copyright reasons. :(
@servicerifle162 жыл бұрын
@@Speedogg138 Sorry, I meant I saw one listed as "Chrome" on GB. It was probably a QPQ model since the slide wasn't marked.

Just curious, do you collect SW99s too? If I had a P99 collection I would want a few.
@Speedogg1383 жыл бұрын
I do not. I may get one, but I really don't like the look of them. I really hate the fact that people try and pass them off as "basically the same." Not by a long shot. I think I'd rather have a Canik.
@burmiester13 жыл бұрын
@@Speedogg138 I believe Walther did make the frame in Germany iirc. What about the Magnum Research MR9? I think Walther made those frames too. Hopefully at some point you'll get all your P99s and have to start going after clones haha
@Speedogg1383 жыл бұрын
@@burmiester1 They did make the frames, I just don't like the looks of them. The MR9 is like the Canik in my view.
@burmiester13 жыл бұрын
@@Speedogg138 Fair haha
@RichiesHouse2 жыл бұрын
@@Speedogg138 the mr9 was a collaboration with magnum research and Walther. The frame is simply a Walther frame with full rails and slightly different looks of exterior of pistol grip . The mags are interchangeable. The slides are stainless steel . Uppers are interchangeable as well . Great collection. Worth picking up used just for the frame .
@AirSofter1319953 жыл бұрын
People suggest you don't let the slide drop on an empty chamber because of the stress it can cause on certain types of pistol frames. The 1911 being a good example. You'd be correct in saying that under firing conditions, the slide is dealing with significantly more backward pressure. The recoil springs are designed to handle that load. During the process of picking up a new round from the magazine and chambering it, a fair amount of forward moment is absorbed through friction - softening the impulse between the moving slide and frame during its move forward. That is where the potential damage can occur when you drop the slide on an empty chamber (with certain firearms). I've never had this issue with any of my polymer-frame striker pistols, but you'd never catch me doing this with aluminum-frame handguns
@DylanHunter643 жыл бұрын
Is there any actual evidence of this? Sounds like hog wash that it could ever cause any actual damage.
