2nd comment - Reached out to ZR for support and had a helpful response same day. I installed this guide rod system and it's another increment better - Steel frame weight, soft ammo, long stroke guide rod all help. I really liked the "standard" ZR Tactical GR, this is another "click" better. 👍

I put this new guide rod in my 5" pdp steel frame. It gives the gun a softer recoil you do feel your slide is traveling further back when shooting. I like the look of the pistol with guide rod showing in the front now.

Out of curiosity, why didn't you get the model designed specifically for the 5" SF?

It definitely makes the gun a soft shooter but it’s too sluggish for competition. Just ditched mine and went back to the factory one. Probably gonna order the normal length 15# and give it a try.

We have a 16lb spring for it that makes the impulse a little faster. Our Ultra Mass in 15 runs great as well

So, I noticed you guys updated the website to say not to use it in a 5" polymer PDP. In contrast, it says the 4.5" long stroke is not compatible with the 5" PDP. THEORETICALLY, if I was to use the guide rod spacer for a 4.5" slide in my 5" slide, would it work?

Please explain why it should be better to move it longer ? I want it to cycle as little as possible to make it comeback to Zero faster. But maybe I understand it wrong.

No, you want it to have a longer distance to slow the slide. The shorter stroke give it a quick, snappier impulse

I use my PDP 4.5 as a duty weapon and issued ammo is the Hornady critical duty 135 grain +P. Are there any concerns with failures if I switch the guide rod to your long stroke system?

Im struggling to understand why the striker had to come out for that process? at any rate I'm very intrigued with the product and have heard good things.

@@kevinshelton7917 because you can’t slide the spacer over the striker. To remove the spacer, the striker needs to be removed. It takes seconds

I have the Walther pdp compact, and i love it, but my wife says it a little too snappy for her.. I was looking for a way to reduce recoil so she is more comfortable shooting it.. Upon researching this subject i have only found headaches and conflicting information.. Can someone help me? Does a heavier recoil spring reduce recoil? Or does a lighter recoil spring reduce recoil? Ive tried to help her by showing her better ways to grip the gun, and that has helped mitigate recoil somewhat, and putting a compensator is out of the question for me because i don't like the way they look nor do i care for how loud they make the gun, as well as the blinding flash and the way i have to constantly clean it.. Im hoping i can get a better understanding of whether increasing or decreasing recoil spring weight will help decrease recoil, thanks

Looks like website was updated, now it states “ONLY fits 5" Long Slide PDP Match SF ~ Use on a Poly 5" could damage your ejector”…initially it did not state this!!! What is people with 5” Poly ordered prior?

There are multiple iterations of slides and ejectors and we can’t guarantee fit because we can’t get an answer on what models are updated and which aren’t. If it isn’t compatible we will swap you out or take them back. We only had them listed for poly for 4 days
