I just saw Evita in San Antonio. Josh Young is an amazingly talented young man. I wish we can hear more of him in the musical world. Please record more !!!!! It is refreshing to see and hear real talent and good music in these days when submediocre artists go up the charts and make millions and real artists work so hard for their money. Go Josh !!! Thank you for a wonderful show !!!!!

Caught this show 2 days ago. Cannot get over how engaging Josh Young was. He immediately took over the entire play; from the first minute to the last, the musical belonged to him. Didn't know who he was last week, but now I'm going to be watching out for him in anything he's in.

I suggest you listen to the original Broadway cast album of "Evita" with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin. NO ONE can get close to those two. Sublime intensity!

Does anyone know where I can watch the full play online? Or if one can buy a filmed version?
@allenn.39094 жыл бұрын
You have to ask people in the boootleg community of which I am in!! I can send the video when I have the time breathe.in.life12@gmail.com
@allenn.39094 жыл бұрын
Just to back up real quick, people who film bootlegs never used to distribute online. They were always physical copies (until 2018), so the only existing original files are the DVD files (VOBs). I have stitched them up into an MP4, but unfortunately it's not the original since the thing was filmed in HD (but you have to sacrifice quality in order to put it on a DVD)

Anyone want to compare this number with "Wenn Ich Tanzen Will" from Elisabeth? I think they're quite alike
@emlodik8 жыл бұрын
They are very much alike, except Sisi doesn't sing the number with Lucheni. Michael Kunze wrote the German libretto for "Evita" and it obviously influenced him for when he was writing "Elisabeth."

did caroline sing "you must love me" in this production?

ginonovanta yes she did 😊
@allenn.39094 жыл бұрын
Ever since the movie they keep adding it and it kinda just stops the show since it's sung through. In more recent productions they move it closer to the end so it works much better

Personally I'll never acknowledge any true Evita other than Julie Covington, but these two do a pretty decent job in my view. This version is simpler and more restrained than many American versions I've heard, and all the better for it: bigger and more bombastic is not always better. Though I am sorry that they cut the line "why go bananas/ chasing nirvanas," which is one of the few genuinely witty rhymes in the whole musical. Why, I wonder? Too wry? Too silly? Do Americans even use the idiom "go bananas"?
@VidRackoff Жыл бұрын
I think it just doesn’t rhyme in American English.

I saw this tour in Las Vegas. The Harold Prince staging is far superior and the chemistry white hot. Check out Florence Lacey, Valerie Perri , Derin Altay and Donna Marie Asbury on KZbin. They are the very best American Evita’s.

I much preferred Desi Oakley as Eva. She was the alternate I believe. Much better actor and I feel like she let the character have a bit more humor. Caroline has a great voice but overacts the hell out of it.

This is not the best rendition of Waltz for Eva and Che, in my opinion. It is actually not that great. These are two amazing performers who had the potential to be amazing, but didn't take the opportunity. They just leave me wanting more because I know they could do more. Not such a great production...
