I had a problem with WAMP Apache so I changed the localhost to 8080. I did everything as you explained but when I come to part "localhost/austin_cool...." it says "Localhost can't be found.. Where do I make mistake?

Don't waste your time with WAMP. I spent 2 days trying to get Wordpress to work with WAMP on 4 different machines. Finally, I tried XAMPP and it worked. Just look at WAMP's troubleshooting FAQ list. It's a mess. It reads like something from the 1970's.

On my Win10x64 system I installed WAMP and got the green icon. But when I unzipped the Wordpress files into the www/project folder I tried opening WP setup with localhost and got the 404 Not Found error. I also tried localhost/www same result. What do you think my error is?

Hi - It could possibly be your firewall. Are there other networks available for you to try to troubleshoot the issue?

Must have been the ghost in the machine. Today, localhost opens the wamp server page with the list of extensions etc. However, clicking on the Your Projects>wplocal link does not open the WordPress setup/login page with the error "This site can't be reached". Do I have the WP files in the correct directory? Here is the directory path to the WP files - C>wamp64>www>wplocal.

Directory path looks good. Are the wordpress files directly at the link (not in a subfolder)? Try localhost/wplocal

Thanks for getting back Austin. After doing some research on the web I found I did not edit the wp-config.php file to connect with the db. Did I miss that part of your youtube video? After updating the file I logged in with localhost and it opened the wamp server homepage but selecting Your Projects>wplocal I get the error "wplocal’s server DNS address could not be found". Logging in with localhost/wplocal gets the "The requested URL /wplocal/wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server" 404 error. I searched the wp-admin folder and the file is not there. Shouldn't it be there?

I just downloaded WP again and the install.php file is not in the wp-admin folder.

well, the easiest way is to just create subolders under the main WAMP www folder. stick your wordpress files in there, make a new database for it www\blog1 localhost/blog1

Hi - default database username: root and the password is empty... so Username:"root" Password:"" Also try username: "root" and password: "root" if AllowNoPassword condition is set.
