Great show of practicality from Brian. As someone who frequently delves into ambient guitar, this one is a bit simplified for my needs but it's a genius move by Wampler to go beyond a simple stomp delay but stop well short of Strymon territory.

I do like the idea of a plugin version of the pedal. That's clever and more manufacturers should follow suit.
@timetobenotdo2 жыл бұрын
And the opposite. It would be cool if a pedal maker worked with Soundtoys and you could stack various plugins with your settings and a few knobs for changing set parameters on the fly.

Very smartly put-together delay. There was definitely a niche in the market for a "mega delay" that kept the choice of algorithms within the realms of what most would call "traditional" delay types. It allows one to justify having this *and* something like a Nemesis or Timeline on the board! Now that's what I call knowing your customers, well done Wampler.

No reverse ! I know most don’t have much need for it but it’s nice to have, it’s too much fun to play around with and it’s a deal breaker for me. Like the Terraform, I had to have a rotary setting and Brian initially wasn’t going to have it but changed his mind. Glad he did. Another excellent demo Andy

Lovely demo, as usual. But with all those stereodelays that has been released lately, which would you use yourself Andy? The two Boss Space Echo pedals might be the the "one-trick-ponies" here. But they nail "that" sound though? Boss also have the DD-200, which also is worth mention. But I'm not that sure where it goes towards the other pedals I mention here? The Source Audio Nemesis was one of the first in this category, and it's been my go-to pedal so far. But this might be slighty better for it's simplicity? The Line 6 DL4 MkII might be the nearest to this Wampler delay, but it's also somewhat bigger with more options. Strymon and Walrus also make great stereo delay pedals. So where in this mix should we find this new Wampler Metaverse?

Looks cool, but a couple of the modes seem a bit redundant, like an analog and BBD? I thought analog was BBD. That and two different flanger delays. Oh well, I am sure there is something i am missing, great demo as always.
@AndyDemos2 жыл бұрын
The Wampler manual has some clear descriptions of the inspiration for each mode. Yes, the first 3 are all BBD/analog but based on different pedals: DM-2, Aqua Puss and Memory Man. They all have different voicings -- you hear different frequencies being emphasized in each repeat and their modulation choices vary too. The BBD really has that extreme triangle wave available like original Mem Man. Thanks for the question!
@rtroupe75802 жыл бұрын
Andy, I’m going nuts trying to select a great multi-delay that can specifically hit those classic Floyd (Echorec), Zeppelin (Ep-3) and Radiohead (BBD) tones. Was thinking maybe the UAFX Starlight, Keeley Halo or Walrus D1. Does this compare well to those? What would you choose?
@drdre43972 жыл бұрын
Well the UAFX is specifically a tape delay thing. This has a bunch of different kinds of delay so if you specially want the best tape delay then go UAFX starlight, el capistan is also great (but if theres another delay with tape delay you like get it because uafx cost a pretty penny. They are one trick ponies, they do one thing really really well) . I haven't tried a halo or a d1 but this delay pedal is certainly the most versatile of the ones you listed. They'd all do a solid job honestly you didn't list a build builder or pedal so I'd honestly say just try them out or watch demos and decide.
@BleedBlueNYR19942 жыл бұрын
@@drdre4397 the Starlight has 4 types of delay in it. One of them being tape delay, the EP3. It also has an emulation of a memory man, digital and a downloadable cooper time cube. So it’s not strictly tape at all. It’s fantastic.
@madolly20002 жыл бұрын
I can add that in development I playtested this extensively as my delay for Time, Comfortably numb, Shine on, and the wall - I used the JET setting for the wall (the additional flange sounds great) and I used theTape setting for Shine / Time, and the 2290 (Digi) setting for C Numb - all of them sound great....

I would pick Eventide UltraTap anytime over this one. Metaverse sounds like the delay for ppl with very simple delay needs (no offence). It's absolutely not interesting imho. I bet i can make all of those sounds really easy on my Line 6 HX Effects which has many more stuff on board not only delay. I bet Metaverse would suit some guitarists but not those experimental weirdos 😉 Great video as always 👍

Only one analog multi fx pedal, that I know of, is the Mad Professor Double Moon, which is now a near $300 pedal. It’s a multi Chorus, with multi Flanger, Rotary and Vibrato options. People are really sleeping on it, as it sounds as good or better than each analog or digital chorus, I see get released.
@CorbCorbin2 жыл бұрын
Why limit the capabilities with a BBD chip, that would make the pedal cost $100-150 more, just for the “analog” delay setting? Then the way one would have to do the circuit, to work with the other features, it would be a mess.

The problem when making a delay that covers what anyone could possibly want is no one gets what they want. If they are an actual player playing songs and within the frame of one or a few genres their needs are specific and even related. If indeed you could use all the Wampler has to offer why not get into the bottomless pit of choices of a 'modelling' pedal.
@yomuthabyotch2 жыл бұрын
i think it's more about wampler challenging himself to make something like this. mission accomplished.

@@yomuthabyotch That mission was accomplished when this on a 'breadboard'. It is not rocket science to see what different genres need and then allow a user to download 11 delays in that category. Later a guy if he moves on could get a different set of downloads. The challenge looks like planned redundancy. Mission accomplished.
