As a former volunteer for 25+ years from near the beginning it was a joy to see that the operations are still ongoing. Great to see the 50th anniversary celebration activities. Only wish I had been there.

Because it's not mainline ready. It will take about a half-million dollars and a few years worth of work to get fixed up. Also, it was (from what I've heard) it's last run before going under the 15 year FRA inspection period - so they limited it to yard usage only for the day.

MPT 482 that's very sad! Kempton was known for their steam and both #2 and #65 are sadly just sitting there.

MPT 482 wow that long? Is it required by law to get the engines rebuilt so often? it's just a shame to see them sit. Kenton just doesn't feel right with all diesel engines. O e of my friends took pictures the other week of locomotive #2 just rusting away. it's so sad.

I hope that someday, that steam will return to operation on the WK&S again. I even hope that #65, #2, and #4 will get to feel the rush of steam in their boilers again and pulling trains again. Here's to another 50 years of the WK&S.
