Sex was such a taboo on TV at the time, that to imply that people actually slept together was considered too racy, so to make sure everyone understood just how wholesome and family friendly the show was, people slept distinctly seperately.

Since most reactors seem to miss it (understandable, given how small his role was), Baron Strucker was the Hydra leader in Avengers: Age of Ultron who conducted experiments on Wanda and Pietro. Hence the Hydra emblem on the Strucker watch. He's a much bigger deal in the comics.

Yes, he was the Hydra boss that wore a monocle. He appeared also in a mid credit scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier when we first see Wanda and Pietro in containment cells. He has the excellent line ""It's not a world of spies anymore, not even a world of heroes. This is the age of miracles, Doctor. There is nothing more horrifying... than a miracle."

Paul Bettany has been in MCU since the first Iron Man movie. First as a voice of Jarvis, then as a Vision with lot of makeup and effects... So I'm really happy he gets to play "just as himself" in this series. He is a wonderful actor.

This is why they released episodes 1 & 2 on the same night on Disney plus. Enough to show that there really is a mystery that needs solving. "Who's doing this to you Wanda?" Love that!

One thing I remember is that both of these two first episodes were available to stream when the show premiered, then we had to wait a whole week for each subsequent episode. Quite the sweet torture :)

Hey, Emme! EPISODE 2: The sitcom being parodied is "Bewitched". They even ape the animated intro! It was a black-and-white '60's sitcom that was colorized partway through its run which is what happens in this transitional episode. Standards and Practices forbade a wedded couple from being depicted sharing the same bed. It was considered scandalous! Lucille Ball bucked the trend on "I Love Lucy" by pushing two double beds together but a single bed scenario wasn't shown until "The Brady Bunch"! Notice the Baron Strucker watch. He was the monocle-wearing head of Hydra in "Age of Ultron".

Yes the watch was made by a company called Hydra, but specifically it is the "Strucker" model. Baron Strucker was the Hydra commander we see in Age of Ultron who experimented on Wanda and Pietro using the Mind Stone.

They will mess with your head the entire series, with a lot of red herrings to throw you off. Folks went nuts analyzing every clue, but as i said many are false leads. It was so much fun!

That view of Vision's insides came from various commercials in the 60's where aspirin, cold medications, etc. were pictured this way for effects on the body.

the sitcom Bewitched, when it started airing, was black and white, but at some point it transitioned to color before it finished airing. That was a nice little reference to that in the end of the episode.

The decade of this episode was the 1960s, with the sitcom being Bewitched. The colorization at the end is a reference to the first colorized tvs coming out in the late 1960s, early 1970s.

Regarding Wanda being in control with her rewinding when the beekeeper arrived, If you remember in the previous episode, when she was getting bombarded with questions she couldn't answer, Vision's boss started choking, and his wife turns to Wanda and says, "stop it." The implication being that Wanda caused him to choke, and she could stop his choking.

Hi Emme!🙂When television came along there was a set of rules TV shows had to follow. One of those rules were married couples could only be shown in separate beds. It’s pretty safe to occasionally swallow gum bc it doesn’t sit in your stomach for 7 yrs like folklore claimed. Like corn is passes through the system intact is all. However, for kids who are more likely to swallow it more often a large enough quantity can cause intestinal blockage. It happened to my elementary school best friend, Ryan.

My mom, who grew up in the 50s, likes to say “it’s all done with mirrors” when she sees a clever magic trick. Don’t know what the origin of that was, but I assume Wanda was referencing that same expression

Moving from the 50's with Dick van Dyke/I love Lucy in the first ep to the 60's with Bewitched/I dream of Jeannie, god I was in love with Jeannie as a child❤ and it was magical when we went from black and white TV to color in the 70's here in Australia.

Censors of the time period absolutely demanded separate beds for couples. If you were to watch any early episode of the Dick Van Dyke show, Bewitched, I Love Lucy, etc any bedroom scene would show separate beds. 😊 The voice you heard over the radio you have heard before in another MCU movie. The identity of that individual will eventually be revealed. 😊 Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker is one of the heads of the Hydra organization. He was the one doing the experiments on the twins Wanda & Pietro with Loki's scepter. 😊 Each episode of WandaVision covers a decade of modern television starting in the 50s when everything was black & white to the 60s which at the tail end of the decade transitioned to color television. Each episodes intro also ties into the decade. 😊 Your instincts serve you well. Just do your best to keep an open mind and let the story slowly reveal itself. You could tell Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen had a blast doing this show. 😅

Everybody recognizes the Hydra logo, but nobody recognizes Strucker's name. He was the Hydra guy who was doing the experiments with Loki's staff in Sokovia where Wanda and Pietro were the only survivors.

I think the trend of the intro highlight clip is a conspiracy youtube started to teach people that L skips 10 seconds ahead in the video. As where J jumps 10 seconds back and K pauses. Hate having to hit L at the start of everyones videos that I watch but youtube seems to force this on people. In some cases I actually have to hit it 2-3x

"They sleep in separate beds?" Yes, in old sitcoms, the couples always slept in separate beds because usually they were not actually married. Even in I love Lucy, who were actually married had separate beds in the bedroom set. Censors would say it scandalous for a man and a woman to share the same bed. Wouldn't want the viewers to think about what a couple would do in a bed they shared. Never forget that America is a country ruled over by Radical Conservatives who hate sex more than anything else in the universe.

All you need to do is slide your beds together to make 1 big bed, then chant with your friends, “Do it for the children” and Bam!!, you become pregnant. That’s how tv in the 60s worked. 😂
