If a midway-decent computer isn't a resource you have, many modern phones seem to support PS1 emulation too~ As usual, when resorting to emulation, pick your source site carefully~

The species names are derived from the taxonomic term plus the Japanese word. Cat people are feline plus neko to get felineko and dog people are canine plus inu for caninu. I don't know if it's obvious but I just figured it out.

It has recently come to my attention that this game is a prequel to Tail Concerto (PS) and Salatorobo (DS). (As well as a Stranger Danger PSA starring some dog boy with a comically oversized whistle.) Likewise, the franchise itself is called Little Tail Bronx. I didn't even know the franchise HAD a name until now. I am now officially obligated to buy this game.

@@hugofontes5708 For the same reason why games have Super Guides or Assist Items: because, gasp shock, not every gamer is good at every game or has the time to spend to get better at the game and it's not wrong to cater to the full skill spectrum. Mind you, in some cases there may be other reasons, but here, it's specifically meant to be a test of the Player's sensibilities and skill. If, given the choice, to sacrifice in the short term for a long-term benefit or sacrifice in the long-term for a short-term benefit, which would you choose? Someone who has yet to build their skills or just wants to beat the game once, they pick the latter so they can properly do so. For those who want to test themselves, they pick the former because they can meet the ask. TBH, more games need to do this more often, because it helps encourage players to learn more skills transferrable to the real world.

Either grind up and upgrade your tank to defeat powerful foe or use your longtime friend soul as sacrifice to win the battle of op enemy and bare with the true horror on your own mental state on how you sacrifice a child live to win a simple hard level and be haunted for the rest of your live. There is one thing that I am confused about. Two things actually: 1) In the main timeline when they used Soul Cannon to destroy the commander of the enemy army, his garrison attacked to avenge their commander. In the new timeline where they defeated enemy commanders without the need for Soul Cannon, why weren't they attacked by surrounding garnison? What happened with the enemy forces that surrounded them? Why they didn't do anything? 2) Why the kids were shocked that they killed after defeating the enemy commander when they already blew up a few tanks and flying units on the way. I find it hard to believe that they didn't kill any soldier before facing the enemy commander.

I've been hearing that name a lot when people compare it to thing. Personally I see it like the bloody destiny plume from Covenant of the Plume and this game is just as tough to go through without sacrificing a party member.

@@TheShuuman It also reminded me of the covenant of the plume game. But hold on, that game was impossible to beat without sacrificing anyone unless you were on a new game+ right? There were some levels that were extremely difficult without the extra skills but still possible. But at the same time, there were some bosses that had too much defense and were impossible to beat without either sacrificing someone or using a skill from new game+ that increased dmg.

@@Misakyz It actually is possible to beat the game without sacrificing anyone, its just incredibly difficult to do. Taking advantage of character abilities and coordinating attacks is incredibly key and Wylfred's own skill which basically doubles all his states is busted as he can get stat buffs on TOP of his own buff. If you time it right he can swiftly one man army many enemies short of bosses. I came close a few times but I never knew how to take full advantage of the games systems at the time.

If you ever do a series of this, I'd be interested in see how you feel about the whole game and see what you think of the True End. If you do that, I then recommend checking out the game Solatorobo: Red the Hunter for the DS, the game before this in the series this game is in, Little Tail Bronx, but after this game in the series' timeline and is actually tied into this in various ways, more so than the first game in the series Tail Concerto, which is tied into Solatorobo via character appearances. I do actually recommend Solatorobo if only for the story, which kicks into high gear in the second half of the game. Solatorobo is one of my favorite games because of that and this game is too. It's still really cool to see people talk about this game.

The word "Jagdhund" indeed is german. It desribes a kind of dog breed beeing used in hunts. They scare the game and make them run towards the hunter for easy picking. You could project this to a vehicle i.e. a smaller tank, forcing the enemy to flee into your lines *flies away*
