Hi. The "Link/Act" text on the fifth port means Link/Activity, and not Link/Account, and it refers to the indicator led on all the ports. It's only placed on top of port5 because of lack of space above the other ports

Good to know.
@waterfelon333 жыл бұрын
Sorry for bumping this comment but does that mean the 5th port is totally equal to other ones unlike what's being said in the video?
3 жыл бұрын
It functions like all the others. By convention, it is the one you use for uplink. I'm not sure if this has more capacity (it is a separate module after all), and therefore better suited for uplink. The module seperation is likely just because the port modules comes in 4-port and 1-port configurations. You'll see this in any switch and router
@DlcEnergy Жыл бұрын
Link = Solid Activity = Flashing They just so happen to put it over the last port's led. And the last port isn't joined with the rest since they're not grouped in 5's. All the ports are equal. It just appears to stand out because of these reasons.

"Link Account port" LOL. that is just the label of all the LEDs (link/activity). On a domestic unmanaged switch all ports are the same, you just create the habit to use the first or last port to use as uplink to a router, sort of mimicking what you do on an enterprise switch that usually uses the last port as uplink, some models even have a separate uplink port.

i need 1, do i have any internet speed losses with this? i have a Rj45 now and it reduces my internet speed on my devices

If you have multiple devices connected to this you may see things slow down a little.

My issue is that I use mesh and I need one additional cable for my vEdge work network. I tested this and it works. Moden ---> Switch --->1vEdge --->2 Mesh network. Is that ok? I wonder if I need to add a router.

First I plugged my router to the first port and the clients had connection - everything worked (also DDS), internet speed was nominal. Now seeing this I changed the ports according to your explanation. Just wanted to say that it does not seem to matter. Maybe plugging a client to the Link/Act would have some consequences but I doubt it.

The 8-port does not have a separate port for connection to router like the 5 port. Or can I just use any port to connect to router?

Using any pork should work fine. Just like the 5 Port version.

Question?? Do I buy a shorty Ethernet cable to plug into the front of network switch box from Wi-Fi router, seeing the ethernet cable I pull out goes in back.

Yes that is correct.

There’s no connection for me through the box. Is it because my router Ethernet cable is too long?

How long is the cable? Also is it cat 6, 7,or 8?

I had this working plug and play, but then noticed my speed had dropped some months later - i went direct to router and it was as it should be. Then plugged back to the switch to compare and i can't get an internet connection now. I changed nothing, literally just unplugged ethernet on back of pc tried another then back to original. Have reset everything in every order, checked all connections, reinstalled network card, tried manually setting IPs, still nothing.

Is it all ports on the tp link?
@debna4 жыл бұрын
@@Wanderer001_Reviews yes it was all ports; I woke up today and it miraculously worked - so I am extremely confused about the outage haha. I'm now thinking the speed drop when using the switch could be down to me incorrectly crimping the RJ45 onto a cat6 cable which is limiting speed - the cables from switch to devices were all pre made so think i can rule them out

I don’t have a wifi router. I have a modem directly connected to my pc through an ethernet. The problem is that I only have 1 port on my modem. This results in my only being able to use my internet access on one device. Will this device allow me to use multiple ethernets with working internet access?
@Wanderer001_Reviews3 жыл бұрын
This will let you plug in multiple devices to to it off of the original one connection point.

@Wanderer001_Reviews3 жыл бұрын
Yes it should. As long as the modem has a router built in as well. This needs to be plugged into a router in order to spilt the signal. If you plug it into just a modem it will not work.
