Setting out from St Leonard's church, where the Royalist forces holding Bridgnorth in the civil war kept their powder stores (which they blew up when they surrendered the castle and town to Parliamentary forces, thus destroying the original church), I walked down St Leonard's Steps, on down the Cartway, across Bridgnorth Bridge down to the River Severn banks, and finally across the bridge to the old quayside on Underhill Street.
