My nephew, Danny went to Penrith last year. We were all pleased with that result. He did go through Saints Academy before he joined the Marines. I went to Wigan last year for the first time since I was a kid - over 60 years ago. It's like so many other northern towns, including St Helens, where beautiful Victorian buildings have been pulled down to be replaced by glass& concrete monstrosities that won't last any time at all. Enjoy rest of your trip.

Mate I a, from Wigan, I was brought up as a St Helens fan and I lived in Penrith for a while, used to love the Panthers Club. I think Mulgoa Road and Neapan will be words engraved in my head forever!

Met some Aussies a few years ago who told me they recognised my accent (slightly Wigan) and when I told them where I was from they said it was Mecca because it was between Wigan, St Helens and Warrington all Rugby League legends. Thanks for the walk around my childhood home and appreciation for the architecture and cuisine.... Wigan kebab mate next time you're in town 🎉

Great video i am from Wigan and live here.the best pie shop in wigan is muffin man unfortunately there isnt one in the town center and i think there's only 2 in the whole of wigan, second best is greenhalghs there is 1 or 2 them in the town centre. Brilliant video ive never heard anyone call wigan beautiful before your are certainly a humble bloke especially after the decisions didn't go your way through in the rugby match most would be fuming, i am a wigan fan but am honest Penrith are still the best team in the world what they've achieved in the NRL tge past 3 years is unbelievable am 29 and ive never seen an NRL club ein the comp 3 years running amazing achievement, you've definitely got tge past half back in the world in cleary hes class its a shame luai was injured he's another great player, hope you enjoyed your time over here an i apologize for super leagues rubbish reffs its something we've had a problem with for a good few years now and the New rules they keep coming up with every season is killing the game to many penalties an red and yellow cards being handed out

Background. Wiganers are proud to be called pie eaters, but the nickname is not thought to be because of their appetite for the delicacy. Lovely video, but the town centre is in decline at the moment. We have so much more to offer. The park just outside the town centre would have given you a lot more. A pie from Gregg's is much more better 😂 Latics fans are so awful to the rugby fans. And sorry, Wardle got the try!

Excellent questions. I rekorded a lot, leading up to the game & from the game itself.. I'm kurrently moving quickly between 4 kountries but trying to edit with every spare moment. But yeah, a full stadium, which felt awesome! Definitely better than NRL games, but not at the level of a Football game ⚽ tbh Hopefully video will be up soon & You'll see for Yourself 🙏🏽

Wigan born & bred, 35 years. We are friendly folk & we do love our rugby & our pies. Meat & potato is the one to go for every time. Town gone to the dogs these last 10-20 years. The Labour council in charge has ran the town into the ground. It's an absolute shambles what they've done to the town. Forced so many businesses out at the expense of the re-development that seems to have ground to a halt.
