I am retired and have decided to start traveling Nort America. The first thing I need to do is sell everything and I want to let you know this video is the most informative I have seen yet! You actually get to the point and explain what and how you did it, unlike most of the other vids which are all about the emotional details of letting go and nothing to do with the actual selling. Thank you for being so transparent in how you sold everything!

This is the first video of yours I’ve watched. I’m leaving San Diego to Costa Rica in a month and want to downsize what’s in my storage unit before we leave, so I searched and your video came up first in Google! I like your style and comedy. 😂 I’ll be heading to my storage unit this week with my laptop to create a huge spreadsheet. Thanks! Also, I also have used Buy Nothing Facebook groups to list things for free. It’s amazing what people will pick up!

It is so hard to sell everything when you live off the highway in a farming area, it makes garage sale almost impossible to get people to drive out to where I live. When I sell online, my ads sit for weeks, and then it jus figures that days or a weeks after I'm out of the country all of a sudden people start asking about things I had posted a month ago. It's hard, give yourself a lot of extra time just in case you can't sell as fast as you firs think you can.

They weren't as beautifully printed as yours but they worked (I made 22 signs!) and I had a wonderful showing. I even had a few neighbors offer me help at the last minute which was heaven sent! I made over 1000 bucks and I'm thrilled. Next I'll try offer up and FB marketplace for my furniture. Cheers to world travel and huge gratitude for your awesome help in getting there!

How did you guys manage visas if you plan to be there for a year? Obviously it depends on the country, but you can only be in the EU countries for 3 months out of every 6 month period if you only have a tourist visa. So where will you be spending the remaining 6 months total of the year?
@WanderingAimfully2 жыл бұрын
GREAT question! Yep, we have to play by the 3/6 months rules - no special visa or anything here. We built a (very nerdy) spreadsheet/database that helps us manage this. We planned out 20 "blocks" for the year that are 18 days long. Each of those 20 blocks we'll spend in a destination, so 10 of them can be in the EU and 10 have to be out while also following the 90-day rule. We might share a video about this later on but we want to see it in action first 😅. Right now, things are looking good for our first 6 months (10 destinations) and the blocks we're in/out of the EU 🥳.

Hi! Love your videos. We are in the process of planning a similar journey and are interested in how you managed your US insurance. Did you keep US insurance in addition to your travel insurance? If so, what does that look like? If not, and reasoning that got you there?
@WanderingAimfully Жыл бұрын
Hi Brittany 👋. We are *very* fortunate to not have any pre-existing health conditions, so we felt comfortable letting go of our US health insurance and just using travel insurance (Safety Wing). Thankfully, that decision has served us very well so far this entire year! Considering we were paying ~$1800/mo for health insurance and have only been paying $84/month 😱 this year, with one out of pocket procedure (~$500), we've saved a TON of money 😂. I could see if someone had pre-existing conditions, keeping U.S. health insurance and trying to have the lowest monthly cost possible for that coverage would be worthwhile.

How long did it take you to sell everything? (only 8 months? REALLY????) We are beginning our journey to retire abroad, and I need to form a solid timeline. Also, you said you used Venmo for purchases on Offer Up...I'm old (thus retiring), and modern tech sometimes scares me, is Venmo safe for transactions with strangers? Really?? (lol!) Also, didn't t-mobile make you leave them after a while of being in Europe? I love T-Mobile (I'm also not sponsored....sadly) and the thought of having to switch to Orange or Vodafone or LOBSTER (yikes) scares me too (Man, I'm starting to sound older and older the more I write :( ) Thanks for the videos! Happy trails!

Did you incur a loss on the sale of your car? How much?
@WanderingAimfully4 ай бұрын
We owned a Tesla Model 3 at the time and for the first time in my adult life (read: 20 years of owning cars) we actually sold the car for a small profit 😱. But, that's not normal, and selling a car will probably be a small loss when you sell all your stuff unless you can get someone to take over the payments on swapalease or a site like that 👍.
