The white deposit on the river bank is perma frost it is a layer of soil that is permanently frozen and is usually found in very cold regions of the world...in Ladakh it s usually found in the vicinity of water bodies ...you will find a lot of perma frost terrain around the banks of the pangong lake

you are equipped with adventure bikes. why don't you try to get off the road and explore the depth of the mountains, or even when the rest of the land was flat you were confined to the roads. If I was there I would try and drive on the unpaved sand for a bit.
