I started life in Battersea in the sixties and started school in Wandsworth and then on to Balham, moved to Putney as a teenager and later in my twenties lived in Tooting. Now live in faraway Northumberland. Thank you for this fascinating montage.

Beautiful pictures. I am a northerner, but spent many, many happy years in London and most happily in SW. I wish there were captions indicating the areas, but great pictures anyway.

Nice upload. So much has changed and "progressed" though can't but feel "something" too has been lost?

Thank you for this film, I really enjoyed looking at each and everyone one. My family on both sides, lived in this area for 200 years or so. I was born in Wandsworth in 1965, so have many fond memories of my own. The photographs made me smile. I had to keep pausing the film, each time I recognised a street. I was captivated by the people in each one. I got to thinking, that the people in these films are possibly my ancestors. Are these photographs in a book? I would be interested in a couple of them, if anyone knows. Thank you 🌈

If they aren't your ancestors it's quite possible that they're their friends, schoolmates or colleagues.

I was born in Streatham, before the war, and our favorite shopping center was Tooting! We used to get the tram the 'Amen Corner.' Is there still a location by that name?

@sgd.68303 жыл бұрын
Hello 👏 @@EditorDudesPlayList Amen corner is the part where if your driving through Tooting Broadway towards Streatham, there is a Barclays on the corner and that’s Amen Corner. So basically you could go left at the lights and end up at Streatham common or you could turn right and drive past Figgs Marsh and end up in Mitcham. I was Born in Balham and grew up in Battersea, a council estate called Badric Court on York Road and then back to Balham in my teens bottom of Bedford Hill famous for the lady’s of the night 😱 and also Streatham Vale and then Mitcham. So South London Born and bred 👍 although when we moved to Mitcham it was the first time our address said Surrey even though Tooting Broadway was spitting distance and so was Colliers Wood on the other side. What about you ❓❓

Christ what have we done to the world!!!!! Pre WW2 looks so different, most of this flattened, even not rebuilt till late 60s. I remember playing in all the rubble in Battersea as a small child thinking it was quite normal for London. Peabody buildings overlooking the thames inhaling all the soot from Steam engines and coal fires.
