I remember first seeing Gav come into the Port side as a 17 year old. My first impressions were, skillful, courageous and unselfish.....the hallmarks of a true champion ! In the 1990 SANFL G/F Cornes put the biggest sniper possible on him...Scott Salisbury, but this didn't worry Gav. He ran the bastard off his legs and kicked 2 crucial goals. Then we lost him to Essendon, but Gav's heart was always with Port Adelaide. He's one of footy's all time greats.........and a humble one at that ! His deeds in the 2004 AFL G/F will be be cherished by all Port fans.......forever !

I wish he could have played forever. Ive really enjoyed hearing from Peter Burgoyne in this series, he has some excellent thoughts on the game. I dont ever remember hearing him speak during his career.

When he kicked that last goal I remember the feeling, it was the first time in the game I realised we are gonna win this.
