Truly helpful. I love how much time you take to just listen and A/B. One sign of a good channel 🙂

@@MasteringExplainedI had some more thoughts about it: I actually think what you're achieving with this effect is not more clarity, but more detail. Of course, it depends on how you define 'clarity' here. You could argue that detail is part of clarity. For me, more detail can be absolutely desirable in many cases, however, it puts additional items in the audio field for the ears/brain to process, which could potentially work against the impression of clarity. - Anyway, this technique and also the freq-dependent compression ratios in the Kotelnikov are great tips!

In a world that has not only made “compression” synonymous to “Downward Compression” but also has put “downward compression” on a pedestal …to the point where upward compression and expansions are not even discussed as an optional “Dynamic range controlling” techniques, here is one channel that decided to put things in perspective and demonstrate techniques beyond the default downward compression. Absolute ‘must watch’ for anyone who deals with dynamics processing; sit up, wake up and ponder over possibilities.

Over time, with various sales and what not, I've accumulated all the Tokyo Dawn GE editions, such dependable quality tools. I appreciate the detailed explanations you provide.

...increase low signal to catch some details wich are in this range... ok, to gain with clarity... cool tips, and : 7:07 !!!! Great starting feelings... 5... increase the gain for the second ex {above threshold/Upwards expansion]...react below or above the "first action hero", here, wich is : The threshold ! Cool video as always, a must for me to learn more and more with precise concepts. !!! Merci (Understanding the ratio setings is another mindproicess to me, but, now, i understand more....) I must remember we are trying to obtain more clarity/details from the low place, ..., delta feature and Ah lookahead concepts... TDR Nova gE is a fantastic tool to understand/learn, add to your video ! Practise ! practise ! practise ! ....

Good information! I've been using Waves M2V for years on vocals for upward compression. It works fine, but I sometimes miss the lack of more precise control. I've also had Nova GE for quite some time, but never realised I could use it for some very precise upward compression of part or all of the vocal. This is great!

I tried the free version of this with 4 bands. The big problem I have is that every time I engage this the sound becomes dull and lifeless, almost like the dynamics disappear from the music. Almost like it's loosing the punch. Is this a plugin-problem, or a setting I need to change?

@@kristianniemann8716 i've often noticed that when a lot of people make tutorials on KZbin that they don't like to use logic Pro as often. I wonder why that is
