Happy Saturday! In this video I wanted to talk about something I noticed a lot of people are struggling with when it comes to getting started or getting better at their painting skills. Because we all go through this, I wanted to share some tips and tricks how to improve your art by stoping these 6 self-sabotaging habits! I really hope you find it helpful!

This is something I really needed! I was always wanting approval and I was my worst critic. Perfectionism led to procrastination and comparison. You really helped me :)

Thank you a lot for your words...I stopped painting to show on instgram. which was the cause of my frustration because every time I thought my painting wasn't good enough for my followers. How stupid of me! I love painting, I have lot of things to learn....but from now on I want to paint with plesure and without anxiety to be judged (especially by people I dont'Know personally). thank you again for your suggestion and beautiful videos. I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver your book and I'm so excited!

Thank you so much for the caring, wisdom and encouragement. I am reconnected to the purpose of art and more free to express myself and create more powerfully knowing the result isn't the main thing. Your words are precious to me.

All these are what I'm feeling now, I am beginner in watercolor. I keep being perfectionist and I just keep messing with myself because I like to compare my art with others, also I'm not patient with process. I should keep remind myself to just practise, learn, throw away those negative minds and enjoy process of create art 😁
@kiwimiwi54523 жыл бұрын
The people who look at your art don't see the flaws and mistakes YOU see. They don't know when that eye is a little lopsided or the lips are a little too closed. Sometimes it helps stepping away from your reference and just looking at what you've made, what actually is on that piece of paper. You are not supposed to be a printer that copies every single detail perfectly, you can change literally everything you want
@Makoccino3 жыл бұрын
Exactly!

This is so spot on. Every time I do a piece I do exactly what you said. I have to edit myself and say "it's done, stop tinkering and overworking!!". Great advice.

Thank You, I will try to get inspired by this. I am a complete anxious disaster, I love the feeling of doing creative things, but it has to flow freely without struggles. Whenever struggles happen I start feeling more and more anxious, and then it goes into a panic and I have to stop, so my head doesn't explode. And then I'm scared to pick it up again.

I haven't even begun to paint...haven't even bought the supplies, but this video about the 6 Self-Sabotaging Habits is exactly what I needed to hear! I tend to begin many "hobbies", many "projects", only to leave them when I can't achieve my own standards of perfection. Many times, that happens after my first initial attempt! I am committing to create, with watercolor painting, and nothing more. I will learn and apply your teachings, focused purely on my own satisfaction and relaxation, and just go with the flow. Thank you for this encouragement!

This really helped me realize that I have been doing the same till recently because I'm starting a painting of my beloved dog that passed away this week and make sense of why I love it so much is because I'm making it for myself and no one else. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I found your video at just the right moment and it is extremely helpful. I stopped painting just before Christmas with the excuse "I'm too busy", which was simply a cover for self sabotage. I'm walking over to put paint on paper NOW, and I am grateful that you addressed this area of the artist journey. I love painting and keeping myself from it because of fear is not only foolish ...it's self sabotage. Again, thank you!

You make me realize from this video that bad feedbacks and opinions of others doesn’t make you a bad artist because you dont make art for them, you make them for yourself, I really liked painting and everytime I did a painting I always showed them to others or to my parents hoping for a good answer because deep inside I just wanted to feel appreciated. But I learned that my passion and dream for art is real and taking time for me to grow my skills and not rushing them is a must.✨

Thanks. Your video gives me hope. I get so down on myself and want to chuck it all and give up. There are so many "Easy" watercolour tutorials that obviously are not easy. It speaks more to the artist's ego than teaching a beginner.
