Heya Gus and Woody! Went on my first ever scuba dive today in Cozumel Mexico! Thanks to your video's I saw that my friends tank was running low (300 PSI at aprox. 8 meters) due to every nook and cranny of his rented gear leaking and he's a big guy. So got to warn the divemaster and we surfaced just on time. Tomorrow we'll go start our open water certification with a different dive shop! Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to plan a dive through a random salesperson at walmart in Mexico... Thanks guys, I found a new passion after watching so many of your videos!

😂 Me wondering if you need to know how to swim to dive 🤔
@oksanabaila-flАй бұрын
@@IMJUSTAGIRL2U Of course you do need it know how to swim.
@IMJUSTAGIRL2UАй бұрын
@@oksanabaila-fl serious question- but why, if you have a breathing apparatus and will be under water breathing anyway? I thought the hardest part of swimming was not drowning. I get that when you're on the surface of the water you may need to swim, but can't you just float in one place until you get picked up ?
@oksanabaila-flАй бұрын
@@IMJUSTAGIRL2U Basic swimming ability is required to get certified in open water. My instructor with PADI tested me in the pool to see if i can swim and float. There may also be a situation when you would have to drop all of your gear and swim up to the surface if something goes wrong with the dive. What if you get lost in the bad visibility and there is no one there to help you? what if you run out of air? What if your BCD malfunctions? this happened to me. I've also had to swim to the boat in the really bad current and high waves. IT was very difficult cause the current just pushes you back. My sister also dives with sharks and she has tons of videos @scubatwins. sharks come when there is current cause they can smell the fish guts
@patrickt101Ай бұрын
@@IMJUSTAGIRL2U a lot of your movement underwater will still be reliant on your overall swimming ability, also by not having some experience and strength built up for it, you would almost certainly become very tired, especially quick. Also, also, in the event that any of your equipment stops working or fails, you may need to put a lot more work into surfacing and should be comfortable and competent in the water without them. So basically, no nothing is actually stopping you aside from natural instincts and basic self preservation trying to make sure you don’t drown (which is prob more than likely)! 😊 :)

Chapulín, great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Two questions I did not see on the info page: 1. Since it is raining season during that time, what happens if the weather is an issue? And does the all inclusive includes alcohol? I’m only asking because I went to one of these meetups before only to find out alcoholic drinks were not included. I hope this is not the case.
@DIVETALK23 күн бұрын
Yes, premium alcohol is included. Weather-wise, we can’t really predict it. Our research showed that rainy season starts in October so we should be good in July but it is impossible to predict the weather.

Hey, guys. I'm a novice diver (less than a dozen dives, including the four required PADI certified dives) and I'm going to Playa del Carmen, Mexico March 2025 with family. I'm wondering if you'd be kind enough to recommend any diving companies or websites for diving directly from Playa del Carmen? We won't be renting a car so it'd have to be directly from Playa del Carmen. Additionally, any place that already has gear set up is a huge bonus. Like I said, I'm a novice diver and get concerned trying to set everything up myself. Only time I did was during certification training. Anyway, thanks guys.
