I was asked to give a talk about metal detecting at the Stanton LDMA camp. This is the class I gave. Hopefully you can pick something up from the talk or Q&A session.

@@prospectorpaul1 Yes we can also find nuggets in the river where we will be dredging? My SD 2300 is water proof. Ive been looking of a reason to get it under water. Have you decided when you are going to be coming through the Calgary area. If not to early I may way to follow you in my truck? I can't head north until around the 28th of May.

You did an amazing job during the presentation by keeping it informative, but also keeping it fun with some audience interactions. If I owned a metal detector and could find the perfect target, I would love to search Dealey Plaza in Dallas and find a bullet from 1963 that would prove the CIA shot and killed JFK. Wow Tom, thanks for the kind werds. I was really nervous in front of those folks, you know, cuz I am really shy LOL. Can you imagine finding a CIA fired round in Dealey Plaza??? That would be so incredible. Most metal detectorist would say the ultimate find would be the George Washington inaugural button, and I have seen a few found on KZbin. They are incredibly rare with a few versions having only 6 to 10 known to exist.

That was strange but here I am☺️ Hi Paul🙋 Great class🤙 I'm going to go off the beaten path more often with my metal detector👍 I loved the story Liz told about finding her 6+gram gold nugget and how it looked just like a rock. I'm jealous of your Gold Coin find! I've always hoped to find some gold coins prospecting old ghost towns, stage stops, etc. That was an amazing find. Great job with the class; keeping your coil on the ground should be intuitive but people do not want to scratch up their expensive detectors. 🙂

Hi Craig, I never thought I would find a gold coin, that is my favorite find of all time. Keeping the coil down on the ground is the only way to insure I am not missing targets. Stay safe my friend
