the ruling at the time was that damage spells that could target players could also target pws. the updated oracle text on murderous redcap does in fact say "any target" now

Nice idea for a video! I sometimes reminisce about the old modern metas! Little sidenote for Tom: I would personally really like to see the hand cards sorted after a fashion. At least seperate lands from nonlands and ideally also sort by cmc. I think it would just be more tidy that way. And easier to get a quick overview of the hands. Also a question for Mengu: Is there any chance for Porphyry Nodes at this point in modern? And if not, what cards have replaced it / surpassed it?

I loved Modern back then, it was by far my favorite format. Splinter Twin, Birthing Pod, Jeskai Control, Merfolk, Hatebears… so many good and fun decks. All died after the Eldrazi Winter sadly, it was never the same again and after so many MH sets the format is just awful. Glad to see this old throwbacks Mengu, keep up the good work!
