Hi Andrew. Soldering is the most exciting part of making metal dollhouse miniatures and I use the things you describe in this video, plus one more item. I never have used silver, only copper and brass but making a copper tea kettle, for example, involves joining a lot of parts. Conventional wisdom says to use solders that melt at different temperatures for doing this but I found an easier way. I apply toothpaste to the already joined parts. I have no idea why it works but it's possible to add a fifth or sixth part to the kettle as long as the other parts are thoroughly coated in toothpaste. Messy but it cleans up easily.
