First, I want to say I really enjoy your channel. Practical advice for the average homeowner. Thanks for the videos. I own a Troy Bilt Three stage, 30 inch wide model with the 420CC motor. The thing is an absolute MONSTER. It will easily throw dry snow 50+ feet. I also have a Troy Bilt neighbourhood rider lawn mower. Both machines work amazingly well, and I've never had a single issue. I am a fan of the Troy Bilt machines.

I have same! Owned for about 4years now. Make sure to do the break in oil change and you will be good to go! Also, if you wanna give it the closest thing to steroids add an impeller kit! Will not clog in the wettest snow and will throw snow alot further than it already does! Impressive!!! I use mine commercially and not a hiccup! Just lube all moving parts before putting away for season.

Well done vid and nice machine, impressive throwing distance and that was wet cement. Most quality machines today will have the oil drain tube, the fact that Troy-Bilt/MTD has it facing the rear of the engine keeps maintenance nice and simple. A lot of machines have the oil drain tube on the side of the engine and you have to either remove a wheel and tilt the machine to the side or fabricate a funnel. We have had a very mild winter here as well, so far. All the best.

I have a 25 year old Ariens with everything this "Toy" Bilt has and more. The good old Tecumseh Snow-King engine, limited slip diff with lock-out (no need for steering levers) electric start. METAL chute with remote aim, 2 grease fittings for each auger (4 total.) The Ariens has a similar oil drain tube too - nothing new here. The only repair it ever needed was a carb rebuild a few years ago. I always use Stabil but it's almost impossible to find non-alcohol gas in my area. For a few bucks & couple hours of my time (easy to do) it runs as well as the day I bought it.

I have the same blower and love it. However the chute is not electric, it’s a cable bit smooth as all hell. I had some minor issues here in New Hampshire with slush, i installed some rubber to fill in the space between the impeller and the body of the machine, this made a huge huge difference since there is no small gaps between the impeller and body now. Prior to the install wet snow would accumulate and eventually clog, no more!!!! Cool video and I’m not busting balls on the electric chute just a minor “mistake” 😂

I absolutely love your reviews of the Troy-Bilt products thank you so much, I have a question if I may I live in Upstate New York and I just purchased a Troy-Bilt 2410 snowblower, a lot of people are telling me that their Transmissions are not that great? Similar to the Craftsman all plastic transmission? I really hope that is not the case because I have a lot of people in my family that purchased Craftsman products and most of the snow blowers that they purchased are no longer running due to faulty Transmissions. Any insight on this would be great and also this is my first brand new snowblower so I hope I made a wise choice. Happy holidays and God bless.

I've had one of these for about 3 years now (UPSTATE New York, near Syracuse - aka, SNOWTOWN USA). Pros: I love the heated grips, turn levers, thumb chute control (takes a bit of practice to maneuver it just right on the go, and keep both hands on the grips), and I added a wind protector (aka- "POPE MOBILE" cap), and chains on the tyres. The oil change drain tube is awesome too, I put my machine on car ramps, tilt it back, and drain into the pan below - easy and clean! Cons: Rear speeds too slow, often better off just pulling the machine backward to position for the next path. Doesn't seem to throw the snow 20 feet, even if I've waxed the intake compartment and chute (via a cheap car wax handpump spray bottle). So, looking at adding some plastic 2nd stage paddle extenders to fill the gap between them and the housing, which is supposed to add 10 - 20% farther snow throwing. Maybe an impeller kits??? I think it also has a problem with water from melted snow getting into the drive pully and friction wheel causing transmission slip - need a baffle to channel water from engine melted snow away from the drive belt area. Or maybe the friction wheel is worn out, or both? So, gonna address those issues this month. Overall, I'm happy with it so far, eh!

Well, here's what I think. It has to be 12 years ago when I bought a Troy Built 2410. For anyone who is not familiar a 2410 is/was probably one of the toughest little machines made. I've been really tough on it. I even blew a gravel driveway for 10 of those years. I used hardened bolts to replace shear pins when I occasionally ran out of shear pins. Hey! Gravel driveways are tough! So if you're dealing with a black top driveway such as my little 2410 is now then a 4 pack of shear pins will probably last you 2 winters. But be smart and get two 4 packs and put them someplace where you'll remember. That said, I'm dealing with about 200 feet of driveway now. I am 70 years old and I can muscle the 2410 but, I'd like something a little larger. Ya know that pile of snow the road plows leave at the end of the driveway? Sometimes it's got that slusy-wet-heavy crap that is really hard to blow. The poor machine clogs up no matter how low speed and slow you go -- right? With the 2410 I can jerk it to the side and clear it out but with many years and many machines behind me, I've learned that bigger is not always better. A smaller machine is way easier to horse around and drag backwards than a bigger/heavier machine but the smaller machine sometimes takes me too long to clear everything out especially in deep powdery snow. So... which bigger (30 incher) would you recommend? Hey! Your video was great and you kept it real and it looked like you threw that slusy wet crap pretty well so I'm curious? What would you recommend?

I don't care how far it can throw snow. I want to know if the wheels grip in heavy snow or does it require you to push it. Does the power steering work while in deep snow or is it only for putting it back in the garage or walking it down the already cleared street to your neighbours. Can you start it by hand after it been sitting for a week at -15 Celsius or when you don't have power because of an ice storm that took out hydro. You only show that it can start by hand after it's been running and already warmed up. I know the title says "Want to throw snow 20 feet" but it came off as a review when you say "We'll test it out" and "I'll let you know what I think". By the way I would be more interested in knowing how to pick a good machine that will get my neighbour to do my driveway? I like that idea!!!

I own the 2620 red version of this this is my 5th season with mine here's my experience 1. Its a beast I'm sure there's better out there but my 2620 chews up snow no problem I have a short video on my channel I shot and posted for a family member living down south to see ... 2. I barely ever use the push button start its faster to just pull the rope lol.... Mine starts first pull 95% of the time 5% of the time 2nd pull can't remember ever pulling it 3 times or more ... 3. I had a surging problem on year 2 drove me nuts didn't know why ... After watching about 15-20 youtube fixes I took the carb off they were spot on some how A gas can of fuel not treated with fuel stabilizer got used the last time I had used it and the fuel untreated fuel gummed up the idle jet ... So it was my fault .. But with a little card cleaner spray and a tiny wire to poke threw the jets hole problem was solved in 15 minutes now i make sure all fuel has fuel stabilizer in it no matter what and I've had zero problems 3. Other than adjusting the drive cable one time witch Troy-Built technical support exsplained the drive cable will stretch over time of use I've been thrilled with my snowblower best 499 I've ever spent .... It loves the deep stuff 4. If you watch my video I bought a cab for mine to keep the wind blown snow off my face .... Best choice I've made I actually get hot under there lol .... In closing I find the tires do spin but I've learned to slow down going to fast trying to over work the blower the tires spin but if i take my time wow does it bite and eat snow ...

I bought the arctic storm 3090 30" with the 357cc motor in Nov. It sits in an unheated garage, have not yet used the electric start. Have to hit the primer four or five times and not be in a big hurry to take the choke off in -25 F but will start with no problem. Power steering works well in deep snow, wheels might slip a little in heavy snow but you don't have to push it. Have to help it a little when pushing through a snow plow ridge that is taller than the blower. Electric chute control is sweet, it will move a lot of snow.

@@300zxdriver you'll be impressed! It takes a little time and patience but if you're handy even a bit it won't be a problem. I made my own but they actually sell kits online. I think even amazon sells a kit

It's really hard to believe a "review" when the person "reviewing" the product is sponsored by the products manufacturer...I would call this a commercial.

You see the machine in action, don't you 🤷‍♂️ It's not like he's sitting on the sofa in the middle of summer saying "buy it, it's the best." It's up to you as a consumer to do your due diligence anyway, not just rely on one source of information.

i bought the 30 inch xp model this same machine four years ago,,my shoot motor had problems after two years, the manufacture warentee was saposed to be three years but i took it to lowes where i had purchased it ,, there reapairer called and told me my shoot was broken and other things were wrong,, i told them to just send it back to me,, the motor was draging that was all,, i tried to take it to local service place in lewiston me. called lapoints,, they took one look told me lowes people cut my wires and just taped them up and refused to work on it because of it,, the main reason i bought this machine is i am handy caped i only have full use of my right arm ,, limiter use of my left arm,, i am not happy with that model i had spent $1200;00 wish now i had bought the $800;00 model without fancy moterized shoot ,, also last year the wireing started to melt ,, i had to unplug the harness

Hi Rev John! I have met about 20 people who work at Troy-Bilt and MTD and they are all fine, hard working people who make good machines, and they like the company they work (which is rare, these days). MTD and Troy-Bilt have similar backgrounds in that they are family owned with a their beginnings in the tool and die biz.

GardenFork - I am sure all of the employees are wonderful people that assemble this snowblower. And I am sure the engineers are also nice wonderful people also. But when it the bean counters count the beans in some areas of their snow blower blow dust. The parts take a fairly long time to get and the service is a real pain when you have to have them repaired at a dealer that doesn't even sell the brand. My neighbor purchased a storm last winter and the first thing to go was the starter no not the electric one but the rope pull one. He called customer service even though the were nice enough the soonest they could ship him one was 8 - 10 business days. Than he asked whom could he get to install it? First Q was where did you purchase it - Lowell's - oh well we have a dealer network that can install it for you. Do the sell them well no but they can do warranty work on them than we reimburse them. He called the first closest dealer - repair center and sense he didn't purchase it from them or I should say a brand the sold - they would see when they could work it in but be prepared to wait we have many of our own customers that come first. It had been snowing and he needed his snowier blower so I did his drive for him. About 17 business days later it was ready. During that snow storm while he was using it the tall plastic shoot came lose at its base and neither him or I could get it back in place then we realized it was cracked at its base. The rest is a repeat of the first problem. By the way I like some of they products and MDT that owns them so this isn't a hate comment. One thing though when you make comments about single stage snow blowers you should explain or make yourself more clear ok. I own a Simplicity 4 wheel drive tractor that has a single stage snow thrower that is 48" W and a 21" H opening. It makes the majority 2 stage blowers look like something is wrong with them. Blowers or throwers are rated in cubic feet per minute and of course it does make a difference as to what type of snow your using one in. Will mine clear wet snow like a 2 stage heavens no but where I live our snow is always a dry powdery type. With its 30 HP my tractor can easily throw dry snow 60 - 70 feet if it's in deep snow. I love your channel and in no way was I being rude or argumentative - truly I wasn't. My point is if we purchase a nice less costly product we need to accept why is cost less. Not because it's not as good as the more higher priced ones but because of its service one thing my neighbor was ready and willing to accept. But this can be true with the cost of anything. Thank You

Hi Eric. I hope you don't mind. I heard a scientist on a BBC radio 4 programme talk about lumps on the forehead being one indicator for a DNA fault that increases your chance of bowel cancer. It might be worth getting checked. The Programme was "The Life Scientific" where Prof Jim Alkaleli interviews people from the scientific world. The guy they were interviewing mentioned that this can be a sign and I immediately thought of you. I hope you don't mind such an odd comment on such a public forum.

Great Job and you have a Great Camera Person. I have an Ariens 24" that I brought from Home Depot brand new. I used it one time for 1/2 hr. Put it away, and the next time I went to use this JUNK it would not start. I could not pull start it for the life of me. Had to buy a New Starter from Amazon. Ariens wanted me to take it to one of there dealers to find out what the problem was. Got a new starter from Amazon for $64.00 and free shipping. Took old one off and put mew starter on and it started up after two pushes on the new starter. Ariens could not help me with this. I'm going to sell this Junk that I paid $650.00 and sell it. Time to buy some thing more relievable.

I thought TroyBilt made good stuff until I started using a Stihl FS130 trimmer....TroyBilt is a toy by comparison. If Stihl made a snowblower it would be hands down the best out there if it is like my gas trimmer. I have a Simplicity blower and it's a good machine, I would say it would stand up better than TroyBilt in the kinds of snow we get in upstate NY

Sorry, have to disagree. First, Troy Bilt is owned by MTD. My opinion is they are not like the old Troy Bilt, but then again what is in todays world. Second, I have found the single stage throws better in slush than 2 stage. My 2 stage clogged up as I was using it, and my neighbor across the street was clearing his driveway using a single stage. So my fix? I got both.

They're all pretty much built the same way, some just have thicker metal and some with more features to make lazy people happy. The newer ones use more cables for the control functions which require more maintenance because they stretch and wear out faster than the old steel rods I have on my old Toro blowers (1974 and still running strong) so you're not seeing anything new here. Just another over priced blower that does what they all are intended to do - blow snow.
