I would love a series where you go to tourist areas and point out the best food. As someone who’s about to travel to Japan and is going to all those areas, I know I’m going to be eating primarily at tourist trap places.

My recommendation is have small snacks while in the tourist areas then take a 1-2 stop train ride away to actually good food instead. Pre-plan out possible good spots even in the tourist areas and you won't have to eat at tourist traps.
