It's weird to feel "chosen", because we didn't do anything for it. Like, I didn't "rise and grind" for this, but I got it; Success. But to keep it, I gotta go get it, and to get it, I gotta want it, and to want it, I gotta go get it, and to go get it, I gotta want it, and to-

Demondice is back and already spitting fire! Hope you're doing alright, it sounds like you're having a pretty rough time from the lyrics so I hope it gets better for you. There's a good point being made about luck and success - hard work is important, but at the end of the day it's a roll of the dice, and that's something that a lot of people don't acknowledge. The factor of luck doesn't make the effort you put in or your achievements any less significant, though - hard work is the thing that gives you the means to act and capitalize on those opportunities in the first place - but it's also good to keep in mind that success is difficult to come by and isn't guaranteed.

I’m so glad you have this outlet to share the music you’re inspired to make which otherwise would’ve gone unwritten. You are so skilled at capturing a part of yourself and transposing it faithfully into your lyrics, and you do so without sacrificing the power or flow of the music-on the contrary, you elevate it. You’re a bombass rapper, and this *fire* track hits hard. As people, we can never really know what it’s like to be someone else, and that’s especially true for an entertainer and their fans. But through your music, I like to think we understand you a bit more, and by reflecting on the song, we can understand parts of ourselves in a new way too-that’s just the kind of music you create. I hope I wrote this comment well enough that the understanding is reciprocated, because you should know: god or demon, heaven or hell-it doesn’t matter. You’re an artist, and you are brilliant!

I won't pretend I know anything about music, so all I can say is that I think this is really, really good, both lyrically and how your vocals sync up with the backing track. I think a lot of us can relate to feeling like we aren't worth our successes, or that we just got lucky. While that may be true for some, I can safely say it isn't for you. You certainly deserve your success given your talent and perseverance. Glad to see you're back.
@akamesama2 жыл бұрын
Nah, many content creators have talked about it, including DD. Some definitely have imposter syndrome, but it's more than that. They've all but in a monstrous amount of effort to get their spot, but there are tons of people doing the same things and seeing a fraction of the success, if any at all. There are always many factors out of your control, especially for creators. It can feel very irresponsible to tell people that you can reach the same spot when it is vanishingly unlikely.
@jonp19522 жыл бұрын
@@akamesama While yes, there's a finite amount of attention that can go around which will make it harder for someone doing something similar to get to as high a point as someone more successful, I would think that it only takes time to get to that point. Eventually, if you're putting in that same kind of effort day in day out, you will get to that same point, but the time it takes may be longer due to the random nature of it. I find it hard to believe someone will just NOT get to the destination that they're aiming for themselves through hard work and determination throughout their entire lifespan. Eventually either the right person will spot their talent and give them the eyes they need to become successful, or one person may find this person, seeing their work and thinking it's good, recommend it to someone else, they will recommend it to someone else, and it'll get around that way. I feel like that will ALWAYS happen EVENTUALLY. That said it's up to the person doing it to determine if they're ready to spend a long enough time to wait for that success to pick up.
@akamesama2 жыл бұрын
Nope. That's the "just world fallacy." While you don't have any chance unless you put in the effort, it's never going to be a sure thing. How many musicians labored in obscurity their entire lives? At least for myself, the goal is to find labor that is intrinsically valuable to you.
@jonp19522 жыл бұрын
@@akamesama I doubt very many if any at all because they usually quit if it doesn't bring them where they want to be. That said, the idea of fame and fortune has always been a bit silly to me. I'll never understand why someone would want more than what they need, or rather, vastly more than what they need. Moderately sure, but to the point of being rich, I don't understand it, unless it's to help other people, and people who become that rich generally hoard their wealth.

You can feel the emotion radiating from this song DDK, great first song on the EP. People will always blame the success of others on luck, while completely missing the countless time that was put in before results of a major scale were seen, and its truly a fool's gambit. Putting in 110% and getting rolled by faceless strangers on the internet is truly a struggle of any online personality, and those who make it their personality truly feast on the cynicism. Being in a very unique situation can always make you seem stressed and helpless when there aren't many you can turn too who have similar stories, with people thinking you abandoned them in exchange for nothing more than fame and money. Cant wait for the rest of the EP, I'm sure they will all be bangers!

This is one of the few songs I can definitely relate to. In the last couple months, I've been feeling exactly this way. Although I've been experiencing what are probably the most important stages of personal development in my life, instead of being happy about it, I just feel unsatisfied. It's like it doesn't matter what or how much I do, it will never be enough for myself. Like a constant "wanting, getting, wanting". I gotta say tho, I feel much better after taking this out from my chest, and I would probably not have even stopped to think about it if it wasn't for your song. Damn girl. Sounds like you needed to vent XD And this is,of course, your chosen medium to do so. I know your journey is a hell we can only imagine, but I'm thankful we get to hear from you and experience your dope ass talent. Luck is always an element to one's success but I'd also say we're lucky we got the chance to discover you. We believe in ya, Dice. Fire, as always. Thanks for creating.

This song reminds me of some oldschool hip-hop/r'n'b, maybe even a certain song which I can't remember yet. It feels modern yet very nostalgic like something you used to hear years ago and suddenly hearing it again.

I wish I'd found you years ago. Your singing, your writing, the way you pour yourself and your feelings into your lyrics... Absolutely incredible, top to bottom. I hardly listen to much music at all, but I come back to your stuff from time to time because it's just that good.

Man... this one really hits hard, the context, art and lyrics really deliver a strong message, and probably took a long time to put up together, going through your own emotions and piecieng it all together, to create a song. Smiling and putting up a face is painful, but musterring the courage to speak up your mind is also a harsh process, huge respect for that. And well, I don't know how it is to be famous and have to deal with the expectations of so many people, but well for my personal coping mechanism to deal with others, and self expectations is to do some kind of small hobby like activity, it helps a lot to take your head off the loop. Anyways people's words can be harsh and even unreasonable sometimes, but I really find it amazing how you could take your emotions from this time and shape it into these verses, keep your head high girl, there is no need to feel some kind of impostor syndrome, being able to deliver your emotions this clear in music is helluva amazing. And well if you need an outlet we will be here listening, even if it doesn't sell, and you are not felling that well. Glad you are back!

Normally in songs like this I have a hard time understanding the lyrics because of auditory processing issues, but DD pronounces their words so clearly and it helps so much! It makes the experience of the song way better!

This is fire. Cool stuff. And relatable. Keep your head high, luck isn't any reason to discredit your success. Fortune really does favor the brave. Those who don't try will never get lucky. Appreciate your being aware of your luck. Pay it forward where you can. As you have been doing. Stay fire.

Most other people in the comments have already said everything I could think about in regards to the message so I'll just say this: THIS SOUNDS AMAZING. The instrumentation, the delivery and production on the chorus and the somber yet also somehow energized tone. Just a great track overall, bravo.

I honestly think the her number 1 strength is in the writing... It is a rare case that I'll get to a song paying more attention to the lyrics than to the "vibe", and she always delivers both
@aserta2 жыл бұрын
So i've always known where DD has been getting her roots from, we all do, it's perfectly normal, that's how it should be, that's how it's been done for eons, only recently has this been stunted by greed. Musically, lyrically that incipient spark is still there, she's still driving from it, but for the first time, this song, this 2:32 release right here, is starting to flap its wings on its own. I can't yet pin point what exactly this "new" is, i'll probably need a few repeats from it, but it's there, and it's not just experience, not just hard work, there is another. DD is growing, evolving, and that's freakin' cool. Watching artists grow is probably one of the coolest things ever, at least for me. It's like watching a big tree grow, but you get to do it in real time, each new release, each new piece, adding up to something new and fresh. As they say "We will watch your career with great interest". ;) DD, my dude, you rock!

Been listening to this EP ever since I saw that it dropped. Not gonna pretend I know what it’s like but your heart and soul are bared in every damn syllable here, and the sound feels like a real evolution of all that’s come before. I may have only learned about your work recently, but you hit it outta the park again. I hope you do whatever is best for you and screw everyone else, screw expectations. I know all us fans only know a fraction of what you’re dealing with, and we can’t pretend to know you, but even a fraction of a fraction of the weight that shows through can eat people alive.
