This comment is truth. The fact is, mainstream record labels are adverse to risk just as any of the big companies out there are. They may seem edgy or pushing the limit with songs like WAP or whatever, but they're basically just repacking Little Kim who actually did it when it was breaking barriers. Little Kim was successful so they copy and repackage. Less risk, guaranteed return on investment? What's not to love? Well, the effect it has on music is one. Another is that it causes new artists to make their music sound like the mainstream as to gain acceptance.

@On_Dust3 жыл бұрын
@Sanggaard i agree. Pop music's theory is a gift to the whole musical world. Songs with 3 notes in it. 🤣. Wow. And yes. Pop stands for popular. So something that is or was popular, it's pop music. @@RebelQueenAmelia Yeah. A music analysis of a rap song that completely disregards the main part of the song (i.e., the rapping) is not really analysis. I also find problems with defining music as "harmony, melody and rhythm". Sure, those are the three main elements of classical music, but classical music doesn't define what is and isn't music. By this logic, percussion music wouldn't be music, because there's no melody or harmony.

What many musicians have a difficult time is understanding successful efficiency of music. Many people who listen to metal appreciate inefficient music. Many people who listen to pop appreciate efficient music. I’ve heard countless of times from people who listen to metal, that it makes them so mad that simple and basic songs can be so successful. This also applies to traditional country music (three chords and the truth). It always make me think of the Amadeus movie when they tell Mozart that there are just too many notes in his songs, and the mind can only process so much at once.
